So you are the first person shooter guy that calls himself a gamer? That kind of superficial? Do you like Skyrim? Fallout?

FPS's haven't traveled over into the land of sports games as far as what's considered "casual gaming" have they? What about all the greats like Half-Life?

I'm sure some people think they have since a butt load of people play just because their friends do.

I'm not a gamer by any means. I like to play them yes, but it doesn't take up a massive amount of my time and I'm not all that great. I get bored with RPGs so I haven't picked up Skyrim.

my buddy just started playing it...he doesn't play those games either but he said he could see how people get hooked on it

I'm giving it some thought but I'd borrow it, not buy it

Actually, they might be even worse than sports titles if you think about it. Look at COD. A game that has changed NOTHING except minor details like guns and maps, yet breaks records in sales every year. Sounds an awful lot like a certain football game I know that comes out yearly. FPS's are very casual now, and the developers have started catering to the casual fan because of it. That is a big reason I want a PC. Games like Arma 3, Hero's of Stalingrad, ect... Real FPS that take skill, strategy, teamwork...

COD and BF have but not games like HF or Bioshock.

Yeah, I'm certainly intrigued by it, but it's a game I'd either borrow or rent before I bought it.

I think from a MP standpoint, especially now, yes. At its roots, though, it's a great SP campaign and really reinvigorated if not reinvented the console FPS genre.

Of course. Its more of an old school type platformer like Mario. It has endless replay value due to the millions of creations by users. Why not play it? Great game.

I love old school platformers but I can not stand LBP. I literally played it for two days and have not touched it since.

I don't play COD, but I will be getting NHL 12 again sometime soon. I play FIFA 12 and Skyrim the most right now. PSN is MarineMountie

  • Anyone ever tried this OnLive thing? You basically "buy" games (PC only AFAIK) and play them on the cloud. They app is only like 10MB and the games are saved on the company's server and you remotely access them to play. I'm not sure if the graphics or speed is as good as they are if they're on your physical machine (I doubt it) but you can use OnLive from a PC, Mac, Android phone, iPad, and soon to be iPhone. I think I'm going to give it a shot on a few cheaper games because (a) I have a MacBook Pro and (b) I don't feel like doing an OS split through Bootcamp (don't have the HD space atm, anyway).

    Welcome to OnLive

OnLive connects you to the hottest games instantly via broadband on your TV with the OnLive Game System, and on almost any PC or Mac.

There is a mini console you get to play on your tv. From what I have heard there is still a lot of lag.

Plus they don't have any of the console exclusives.

I have a Mac Mini hooked up to my TV. I'm sure it's not great but it might be fun for a Mac guy who's been out of the PC loop for a while.

I know a guy that plays games for his mac. They look pretty good from what I can tell. I saw him playing Portal 2 for Mac and it looked good.

I actually built and tested some of their cloud server platforms. It was a pretty neat set up, but for what they were trying to accomplish I don't think it was nearly enough server allocation to do it all with. However I may have only seen a small order, but it was cool to mess with. I got to talk to some of the guys managing the data centers, pretty cool dudes.

I play CS:S occasionally on my TV. It's pretty wild IMO.

  • Y'all can call me a nerd, but I used to play a lot of WoW back in the day (and Asheron's Call before that) and really enjoy a good MMO. I go back to WoW from time to time still. I really hope SW:tOR gets a Mac port soon.

You are a nerd. But I really want to play The Old Republic. From what I understand is you can pretty much play it by yourself. You don't have to do any of the PvP stuff.

  • I had Little Big Planet 1 and 2 and enjoyed them both. They are both very good games and something my fiance and little girl both enjoyed playing as well. How good does Skyrim run on PS3? I have read from gaming site it is shiit but I have not seen it for myself. Sometimes they will over-exaggerate how bad it runs. I really want another PS3 just for the exclusives but I really do not have the money for one now. I miss the Uncharted, God of War, Little Big Planet, Motorstorm, Killzone, Infamous, and Resistance franchises.

I have seen it and it is not that bad. It gets some slowdown every now and then which I have experienced on 360 as well. They always exaggerate like you said.

Saints Row 3 is a lot of fun but it also a lot more of the same. It is fun beating people to death with a dildo though.
