I haven't read any of the books. I prefer the Old Republic to the movies or The Force Unleashed.

Agreed and upvote. I'm sure thats a sacrilege to die hard SW fans but the first 3 films (most recent ones) were hard to sit through. And Force Unleashed... eh. I have no comment.

Eh. No more than anyone else who plays a lot of games in a particular genre. Though I do tend to retain more random lore facts about these worlds than I care to admit. I'm currently nerding out with the warcraft novels. Yesterday I did manage to finally get "Reins of the Green Proto-Drake" (http://www.wowhead.com/item=44707) which I have been wanting for a while (well at least since my wife got hers). Epic loot ftw.

I know my fair share of star wars facts that I most wouldn't admit either lol. It's all good though.

What are some of the best Star Wars stories? The movies and Starkiller's story is all I know.

Aussie is right. The Old Republic was just much more diverse. Go to the star wars wiki and you can just find endless info on different characters.

I consider myself a pretty big Star Wars fan and it is just way better.

Probably because Lucas had nothing to do with it. I don't think it is coincidence that Empire Strikes Back was the best of the original trilogy. Lucas didn't direct that one.

Was it basically just a collection of Authors who came up with all the expanded universe of Star Wars?

Pretty much. I think Lucas has to authorize them though.

There is a legend... A legend several years old about a midnight launch of World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King. It speaks of two DeathKnights pwning noobs in a land called Zangramarsh on the bitter planet of Draenor (known as Outlands) and death gripping and chain pulling massive groups of enemies with reckless abandon and relentless wrath (Well ok... thats because the class was overpowered on release but still...).

    ...

And then Noah and I dinged level 80 (level cap at the time). He went on to be an epic raid tank during that content and I went on to get the world explorer title and solo farm level 20 dungeons.

    Good times.

And by the way... in Halo they call him Jesus. Because only Jesus could run into a room full of noobs, pwn with nothing but 2 sticky grenades and an empty pistol, come out unscathed with their flag, walk on water, blow up every enemy banshee on the way back to base, walk on water, score the point, then rinse, repeat. Just don't tell him I said anything.

Haha, sorry. Just kind of jumped in with the question. Starfox was indeed a great game. Starhawk... I hope will be a great game. (Loved Warhawk)

  • Alright, a couple of questions for any of you who have built/are planning to build/know a decent bit about building PC's.

First, links to the parts I'm looking at... and noting that I am a "bit" of an amateur when it comes to this:

    CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115072&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-RSSDailyDeals-_-na-_-na&AID=10521304&PID=4176827&SID=m6gycuk34sc6

    PSU: http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Enthusiast-Certified-Compatible-platforms/dp/B004LB5AZY/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1327112029&sr=1-1

    GPU: http://www.amazon.com/VisionTek-Products-PCI-Express-Graphics-900491/dp/B006V6RHVM/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1327109853&sr=1-3

    HDD: http://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Barracuda-7200-12-Internal-ST31000524AS/dp/B004IZN3YI/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1327111927&sr=1-1

    Mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157271

    RAM: http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Vengeance-PC3-12800-1600mHz-CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9B/dp/B004QBUL1C/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1327111880&sr=8-2

    SSD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227725

    CPU cooler: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103099

    DVD: http://www.amazon.com/Asus-24xDVD%C2%B1RW-24x8x16x-48x32x48x-DRW-24B1ST/dp/B0033Z2BAQ/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1327110685&sr=1-1

    Case: http://www.amazon.com/Cooler-Master-Tower-RC-922M-KKN1-GP-Black/dp/B0026FCI2U/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1327111140&sr=1-2

Basically, this will mainly be used for gaming (obviously, ha), so what I'm wondering is 1) is this "too" much, maybe even not enough in an area or two for running games like Skyrim, Witcher 2, BF3, etc on max well (30+ fps at all times). 2) Would this setup have a good... lifespan, I guess is the best way to put it. In other words, am I going to have to upgrade anything in this setup ~6 months down the road, or will it last me a solid 2-3 years before needing an upgrade.

Any suggestions on CPU, PSU, GPU, etc are welcome and wanted(for example, should I get dual 6970's over the single 7970). Looking for opinions. Pretty set on monitor/mouse/keyboard, but suggestions on those would be appreciated as well.

Also worth noting that I will probably be building this ~6 months down the road, so I'm sure deals will be better/better products will be out by then (wanting to see the specs on the new consoles first, as well).

Let me know if you play it. I have read up some on this game and I am interested. I know it is a 3rd person shooter but that is about all I know about the game.

A lot of vehicle warfare too I believe.

  • Starhawk looks great! A break from all the military "sims" out there. PS3 exclusive, graphics look awesome, big battles, not realistic so its a good change of pace...

I think we could have a lot of fun with that game. Check it out on youtube. I just watched some Capture the Flag.

I will play the beta when it becomes available to all. I think it is anyway.

I played Warhawk a few years ago and it had a lot of potential.

I might pick it up when it comes out. Like you said a change of pace from all of the military stuff.

Although I am like Battlefield more and more all the time. Especially once chat is fixed.

  • Alright, what's on everyone's 2012 wish list?

    Mass Effect 3 – 3/6
Game of Thrones – 5/15 (want to know more but willing to give it the benefit of the doubt for now)
    Max Payne 3 – 5/15
    NCAA Football 2013 – 7/10
Lollipop Chainsaw – 8/1 (looks ridiculous, but I do love killing zombies...)
    Bioshock Infinite – 8/1
    Borderlands 2 – 9/1
    XCOM – 10/6
Resident Evil 6 – 11/20 (getting less and less impressed with the series but I've been a long time fan)
Tomb Raider – 12/31 (loved the trailer at E3 and the new look)
South Park: The Game – 12/31 (Butters and RPGs... what could go wrong?)
    Metro: Last Light – 12/31

Only a few of these will be bought new, the rest I'll keep my eyes on to see how they do after release.

Out of those that you listed ME3, Max Payne 3, Bioshock Infinite, Borderlands2, and maybe Tomb Raider will a be day one buys for me.

The rest probably not. Game of Thrones will be interesting.

It seems like there are some more that are missing from your list but I haven't really studied what is coming out this year. I am still working on my backlog from last year.
