Digital Media is not a car. and guess what..If you only needed 10 to 40 hours with a car before you sold it no one would ever buy new and the industry would collaspe.

Funny that you guys that never buy directly from the source want to lecture about ownership.

and even more funny you guys are saying go to PC now because consoles dont allow used games when PC has taken out used games and piracy many years ago with the same strategy

Where do you get that we never buy from the source? Game Stop knows me by name I am in there so much and I never buy used games.

As I said before I rarely buy or sell games but this system will not even allow someone to borrow a game.

And this is not digital media we are talking about. We are talking about a hard copy of something.

The music and movie industry have never implemented something like this. You can still buy and sell used movies and music.

Nothing has been announced yet. I am constantly looking for new info.

The only news was Bethesda trademarked a new name for possible DLC.

Can you borrow games on a PC? No, so my point stands..why protest a console and go to PC that has the same practices?

and i am talking in general..those that buy used have no right to complain because the source is getting no money from it..reward those that work for you or do not expect it.

Protesting not allowing used when you do not even buy used? Yet not protesting the PC- the inventor of these practices?

And as far as borrowing PSN and Live are working their way to allowing game trails for each game. A lot already have 1 hour game trails to see if you like it. Add that to Demos and free beta testing and you do not need to borrow to know how the game is. Also the used copy will still have some functionality

The industry has worked to address piracy first, now are moving on to used. The same thing is happening in movies and music. Digital has been the savior of those industries for the time being

Yes you can borrow on PC. Unless the game was downloaded digitally.

And these system that PC have implemented are so easily circumvented they are not even worth mentioning.

My guess is these consoles will be hacked and it will be the same deal then.

Bottom line is this will hurt sales badly for both consoles.

What about the rumors that PS4 will require a constant Internet connection just to play games. That is just stupid because many live where that is just not possible. So they just cut their consumer base down even more.

Consoles are already on there way out according to many industry analysts and it appears these companies are doing everything they can to expedite the process.

Please, if anything(nothing is official yet)...it will be just like PC, you have to sign in every so many days ot keep it active.. borrow on PC with hacking counts? Yea the used PC game market is thriving..you need the activation code or tied to a account

and they are prediciting consoles are on their way out due to increased gaming on cell phones and tablets, set top boxes etc..do you trade and borrow those games?

There are a few different reports that it will need a constant Internet connection. Of course it is just a rumor like all of this but if true it is beyond foolish.

People that live in rural areas don't even have their consoles connected to Internet.

Over the last 10 years Sony and Microsoft's game divisions have lost a combined $10 billion dollars. I don't see this new set of consoles helping them dig out of this whole.

You miss the point. If you buy something you should own it. If you own something you should be able to do whatever you want with it. If I want to sell it then I will. If they do all of this you will never really own anything. What happens 10 years from now when PSN or XBLA may not even exist? Then you will not even be able to play the game. It is greedy IMO. If game developers want us to keep games and quit trading them in or buying them used they need to quit making the same damn games. Make a game that is different and makes me want to keep it. I probably buy just as many new games as anyone on here but I also buy some old games used.

No one is stopping you from selling it if you bought it new. It stops the people that buy it used from owning every aspect of the game. Once again your points are bad.

Trying to argue the ownership value of something you buy new when it is NOT CHANGED?

Will you have the full versions of any if the Call of Duty games or any other shooter in 5 years, no online will be gone. What about PC games with online activation? Same thing

Any offline based game you buy such as a role playing game with extra content for those that buy new will be downloaded where you can transfer and back it up

  • GameStop has a pretty good deal this weekend(even better for Pros) and I decided to finally pick up AC:Revelations.

Am I going to have to trudge through this one or does it stand alone?

That's good. Drastic changes can be too erratic but small improvements are always a positive.

Yea the Game Informer article had me really excited. Pretty much was the reason I went and got Revelations.
