  • Allready 0-1 today. Had BG plus 7-1/2 and winning 24-21, SJSU won and covered 29-20

    Also have UC -7 1/2, winning 37-22 and that ain't looking good with Duke up 16-3 late in the first quarter

    Later I have UCLA as a pick'em over Baylor 47-44 (the big question is whether I will still be up at 1:30 a.m. when that game ends)

  • OK, gotta love UC backed up on their own 5, eventually hitting an 83-yard TD pass and then getting a 55-yard pick-6 two plays later for a back door cover-and-kill. Just a glimmer of hope ...

    Then UCLA falls behind 14-0 (bleep).

  • OK, six big games today. I am now 15-9 straight-up and 12-11 against-the-spread on the bowls after a perfect 4-0 day ATS on Monday.

    I have all the dogs today .. Purdue plus 16 1/2, NW plus 1 1/2, Neb plus 10, Michigan plus 6, Wisconsin plus 6 1/2, NIU plus 13 1/2 ... don't ask me why, I just ended up that way. Plus I have NW and Wis wiinning outright. We shall see.

  • I was 5-1 straight-up (losing on Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl) and 3-3 ATS on Jan. 1.

    I actually feel good about how this all went. Nebraska was a good pick, the Huskers had ample opps to play Georgia within 10, but their turnovers and porous defense made it a 14-point game in the end. They have a lot of work to do this off-season. I saw them give up 63 to OSU, 70 to Wis and 45 to Georgia (with 6 TDs of 24 yards or longer!!). That isn't Neb football.

    I whiffed on Purdue. Clearly they were way out of their league and had no interest.

    Nailed Northwestern, first bowl win in decades. Happy for Fitz. He is a good football coach.

    Michigan had the lead and gave up a late TD to South Carolina. They were right there.

    Wisconsin just could not make a play. Stanford stopped them cold. Still won that one by half-point ATS.

    NIU had opps but lost battle of attrition eventuallly against FSU, which came to play. The ACC "improved" to 3-12 all-time in the BCS with a win over a MAC school. Congratulations!!

    today, Florida favored by 13-1/2 over Louisville. I have Florida 27-17 (love them double-digit dogs). Strong staying with Cards should help the continuity and team togetherness, but can Bridgewater (now healthy) make plays against Gators' D?? Hmmm. Back tomorrow with rest of picks.
