Vontaze Burfict?

  • Did I hear earlier that the kid had 147 tackles in the regular season? I know the kid had serious attitude issues at ASU later in his career there, but I guess Marvin Lewis did a number on him.

Kid would have been a top ten pick at one time and the Bengals got him as an undrafted free agent. I'm still shocked that nobody drafted him on potential alone. Good for the Bengals. Glad they lit a fire under the kid's ass.

Who is the frontrunner for NFL defensive rookie of the year? I'm pretty sure Burfict is a rookie and you would think 147 tackles would make him right up there.

Total headcase at ASU. You never knew what you would get out of him.

I am happy he's succeeding in the NFL, as a member of the Bengals no less. He's becoming the player he should have been all along.

No clue for DROY though. shrug

    Okay thanks,

Could have sworn that they said 147. Still not bad at all for an undrafted free agent rookie though.

    Yeah not even close.

I completely forgot about Kuechly. He wins in a landslide.

That is a question when it comes to all these young players though.

Nope, Casey Heyward will be the DROY with 7 ints.

Completely disagree. Tackle numbers are relative to position. Kuchely led LBs in tackles, but Jenkins was 9th among CBs. Kuchely gets the edge there. Jenkins and Kuechly were both middle of the pack in INT and Fum Rec for their positions. What gives Jenkins the big edge is that on his 5 takeaways, he took 4 of them back for TDs, leading the NFL, and his 3 INT TDs were a rookie record.

Wait... You say tackles are relative to position.. Then you throw in takeaways which is a stat relative to DB's as your argument for Jenkins.. Just sayin'

I noted that they are both middle of the pack for takeaways for their positions. It's Jenkins scoring off those takeaways that is exceptional, even to his position.
