Not gonna get into the whole Michigan/SC thing. I have a lot of respect for that team and they are really good, just had some tough breaks and played an insane OOC schedule.
Penn State is definitely below Michigan in the Big Ten pecking order IMO. They lost to Ohio. Ohio. Swap OOC schedules with Michigan and Michigan probably finishes 10-3 to PSU's 8-4

When did finishing top ten become mediocre? I know there is only one champion, but does that make the rest of the teams mediocre? I always thought top ten was pretty much the elite teams in the country, something carolina has been the past two years and will begin next season as again.

Or any other team not named Oregon, Stanford or Alabama since those are the only 4 schools that will finish top ten in the BCS the past two seasons, and all 4 will be top ten to start next season. Next year we probably will be saying those four teams will be finishing in the top ten for the 3rd straight year, while Ohio state will still be at 0 in past three years

Oh, the season counted just fine. It counted to 12 wins, including another routine beat down of Michigan.
Plus, if seasons only count when you play in a NC Championship game or a BIG championship, then Michigan hasn't had a season that counted in a long, long time.
