I don't think anyone's necessarily saying that. We're saying that if he was an average Joe instead of a D1 defensive coordinator, he would have been caught sooner.

I disagree
It was to save their own asses sure but the health of a program that helps pump millions of that cash money it was certainly part of the reasoning to not say shit to anybody

I actually did a project on the Sandusky case in a Theology and Philosophy of Sport class this past semester. We analyzed the case through the lens of different social theories, and my group was assigned social conflict/Marxist theory. We had to argue that the power structures in place around the culture of football at Penn St allowed Sandusky to get away with his crimes far longer than he should have been able to. There are some pretty compelling ideas, especially related to sports (football in this instance) as a new religion and thus an opiate for the masses. I didn't agree with most of what my group was tasked with arguing, but it was pretty compelling.
