What Early 2013 First Round Prognostications Fall Off?

  • Happens every year. Somebody like Vontaze Burfict falls off the cliff in terms of draft spot.

My pick is Tyrann Mathieu. He's essentially a more impressive Javier Arenas. A very undersized DB who makes big plays. The kid is good and will be a very important role player on ST and big plays in the NFL,but I don't see him going in the first round. IMO, every team LSU faces will take the BCSNG tape and exploit his weaknesses.

2013 NFL Mock Draft has Arkansas' Tyler Wilson going No. 1 overall - Andrew Perloff - SI.com

The 2012 NFL Draft illustrated teams' focus on the passing game, with quarterbacks, cornerbacks and pass rushers flying off the board. Teams can now afford to be much bolder at quarterback thanks to the rookie salary slotting system, allowing them to take guys higher than graded andto give up on former first-rounders quicker than before. Next year's class doesn't have an Andrew Luck in it, so predicting the top QB picks will be tougher, but teams will always find players to fit that need.

  • I have to say that I think Michigan State CB Johnny Adams is ranked waaaay too high. I don't expect him to end up undrafted or anything... but he lacks NFL size and has a lot of instances where he goes for the big hit instead of wrapping up. He'll be a great cover corner and is poised to have a great season, but #15 overall is a bit of a stretch at this point.

    Final Countdown

  • its always hard to predict an Vontaze/Alfonzo Dennard type fall especially because of off the field issues. so ill go with whoever is the biggest f*** up so far on his mock

  • Surprised Fluker is our only pick in round one. At the same time i think we have a lot of guys who can have a big year and do decent/well at the combine/pro day and make themselves first rounders.

These players are going to be ranked likely, may, and unlikely to do that.

    Likely:
    1. Jesse Williams
    2. Dee Milliner

    Maybe:
    1. Barrett Jones
    2. Robert Lester
    3. Nico Johnson

    Unlikely:
    1. Chance Warmack

  • I think Landry Jones. Geno Smith, Logan Thomas, Mike Glennon, EJ, Bray, and possibly Zach Mettenberger all have a chance of going before him which would probably push him out of the first.

If I had a second choice it would be Mathieu but I think his media perception is a lot higher than what the NFL thinks of him right now. I think by draft time next year he will be a late first to mid second FS prospect.

Nah Landry. I like Wilson a lot more than Landry Jones. As of right now Landry is the 3rd or 4th best QB in the 13 Draft IMO but I think a lot of guys have a good chance passing him up.

For some reason I read the period behind Jones as a comma. Haha.

I could agree on your assessment as well.

Does he seriously have Lotulelei at #1? I trained Star and most of his Bingham teammates in high school. He was good, like all-state in Utah good, but I never would have guessed he would even be an NFL prospect. Same thing with Stephen Paea who was drafted by the Bears in '11.

Things I noticed: I'm not even sure Shayne Skov is playing this year, his knee injury was horrific and Jeffcoat before Montgomery and Gholston no

Yea. He doesnt have any descriptions for his picks,so I'm not sure of his reasoning.
