What do y'all think about TCU beating Texas ?

  • First year? So Texas Christian is better than Texas. This is why me as a smu fan wish the big12 would add smu.

I sure as shit wish they would have offered Johnny football. I'm not looking forward to dealing with him the next three years.

he has literally failed to recruit, and he gets a lot of first options on a good percentage of whomever he wants, so, yeah, there is some failure there.

I think his biggest mistake was in that deal with Muschamp, and we can all see that very clearly now. Hiring Manny Diaz was not such a good idear either. His defense sucks

It is shocking with all the QB talent that has come out of Texas that he hasn't been able to get one since 2004 or 2005 with Colt McCoy. The list of guys he missed on is alarming.

    Matthew Stafford
    Christian Ponder
    Ryan Mallett
    Andrew Luck
    Robert Griffin III

That's just 5 Texas QBs that left the state from 2006-2008. Any one of those would have probably been a big time winner at Texas.

And yes, Diaz was not a good choice. Texas should look for more than one-hit wonders. Think about the DC's they probably could have gotten instead. How much better would they be with Todd Grantham at DC? Of course, not screwing up the Muschamp deal was stupid as well. Why do you give "Coach in Waiting" status to someone unless the HC is leaving within 2 years for sure? If they would have never done that, Muschamp is not the HC at Florida, IMO. He may not still be at Texas, but his name definitely wouldn't have been as much in the spotlight.

  • UT and A&M are headed in opposite directions. UT made a huge error not finding a way to keep A&M in the B12. It is a gamechanger for both of them.

  • Rg3 was committed to Houston and followed briles over to Baylor since I believe he was the only coach who let him play qb

Ponder is like Mario Edwards in that they both were basically nole locks since there dad's played at FSU. Stafford wanted to play for mark richt even though he grew up liking FSU. Luck I believe wanted a great education, so he chose Stanford. Rg3 wanted to follow briles to Baylor since he was the only one who let him play qb and run the hurdles in track.

  • I think that is continually established that Texas has the worst athletic department in the NCAA. Folks flame FSU for wasting talent over the last decade but the level of inneficiency coming out of Austin in football and basketball is egregious. Mack Brown gets about half the lemonade he should get out of the mountain of lemons he has at his disposal.

One can only hope. It's scary to think what Gary Patterson could do with the kind of talent already on campus.

It does not matter, because like I said he was coming to FSU no matter what. He also had some offers from some big 12 and Texas schools, but chose to come to his dads alma mater.

Alabama turned Texas world upside down and Mack has never been the same since. I think that game fried him.

    Lots of truth to that.

But, hey can't hate too much. Dude has made over $15 mill for doing literally less than jack shit, and the American dream.

True, couldn't really think of anything else I'd wanna do and make over $15 mil per year.

How do you figure? I mean it is not like Ponder was some scrub in college, and it is not like he did not become the first FSU QB selected in the first round. If the Vikings did not select him he was still projected to go at the bottom of the first.

$5 mill per, but yes receiving that kind of compensation for very little labor would not suck.
