What does Michigan look like if

  • Clarkw267 said...

What did Miles do before inheriting the program that Nick Saban built at LSU?

Miles has done a good job recruiting in a hotbed of talent. However he's not a good game day coach.

That story worked back when Miles first got there, now what? He has been to 2 MNC games and won 1.

Miles has won the conference several times. Hoke has never won any conference he has ever been in, EVER. 10 years of head coaching and has never won a conference? Thats like Derek Dooley, I have no idea how that dude got the Michigan job with his resume.

Les Miles won his first conference (and Natty) title 3 years into his career at LSU. He won 11 games that year. Hoke has already done that once.

You are still a giant censored though, so there is that.

EDIT: Cuz I don't want to be banned. This guy is an idiot though.

I'm honestly not sure how much you know about football. Do you have any idea the turnaround that Ball State and SDSU had under Hoke? Now I understand the argument of Miles being a better coach, but not the argument that Michigan would be in better shape with Miles as head coach.

It's not like he started his job at LSU with no talent. His teams were already stacked. Hoke still needs to recruit and build up his team which is doing very well at. His first year he went 11-2. Can't do much better than that imo.

    You can't???

Don't try to tell coach Urbs that... Might get your tongue ripped out boy

he wouldn't let his players pose in the Playboy All-American magazine edition, he said, "Cause you can't play football with an erection."

I think this year has been pretty bad for you guys, you should have been a lot better IMO.

Bad troll!! I think UM is doing better than I expected I had them for a 4/5 loss team. Obviously the OSU game will decide if they do better than I predicted.

So Miles should never have been hired at LSU? Because I'm pretty sure he never even finished the season ranked at Oklahoma St...

Everyone except for Michigan fans knows that Miles is better.

I don't understand how you can even say that Hoke is better, he has never won anything at any level of CFB EVER

I really don't think you understand that miles most likely wouldn't have worked at Michigan. I'd give him the "better" coach nod. To do what he's done at LSU and in the SEC, is extremely impressive. However i just think at Michigan he would have been hurt by some prominent alumni and some ex-coaches. Hoke, on the other hand, is getting kudos and help from every corner. As strange as this seems I really believe the correct answer is miles is the better coach probably everywhere except Michigan. We'll never know but if you follow things up here I bet a lot of people would agree with that. Home will win a championship eventually. I don't know about a NC but definitely a conference

Why would he be hurt by prominent alumni? Your school operates like a bunch of bafoons honestly.

You got the cool kids club and then the non cool kids. Unfortunately for Rich ROd, he was a non cool kid.

Look I'm a Michigan State alumni. I'm telling you in my opinion I'd rather have miles at Michigan. I could be completely wrong. You're correct, if you know anyone close to Michigan and schembechler hall you know that it takes a road map to successfully negotiate your way around some of the politics that are there. Hoke knows that map like the back of his hand. Miles wouldn't have got one. That's just my opinion. I'm an outsider to this whole argument.

Because Lloyd Carr acts like a child when his Coach of choice isn't hired.

Pretty much true. I don't think that outsiders realized how bad it was getting at Michigan with Rich Rod. As a Spartan we were hoping for a complete split that would be hard to repair. I think we missed by about a year or so.

  • Just wait until signing day, were goo g to be ahead of you in recruiting. You really think you're going to win? Lol not gonna happen. Hoke can't win road games, especially against a better team, with a better coach, while we're honoring te 2002 championship team. The shoe is going to be hyped!

Bad troll is right. I'm starting to get annoyed at the other M posters for actually responding to this knucklehead.

I'll take Hoke grabbing 2 top-10 classes and a BCS bowl with Denard as our QB the first two years as our HC. Very happy with the Hoke hire. Great coach, great person, great staff that loves to work for him and players that like to play for him.

The other guys saying Miles sucks are idiots, but so are they guys saying he would've been better than Hoke at Michigan. Brandon wasn't hiring Les Miles anyway (if, in another hypothetical, he says yes) so this whole thread is an exercise in stupid hypotheticals. Then again...we are on the blue board.

It's essentially the ultimate old boys club. You either follow the Bo Schembechler model or you're not a "michigan man." It's really backwards and it probably destroyed any chance of Rich Rod having a succeeding at Michigan. As a Michigan alumni, it's quite asinine but it's part of why Hoke is the perfect hire for Michigan. From the moment he stepped on the podium with his "this is Michigan fergodsakes" speech it became apparent that he was the right hire. He wears short sleeves in freezing weather, he doesn't care about headsets, and he loves three yards and a cloud of dust. He fits that Bo Schembechler model. I think the point Dwags is making is that it doesn't matter whether Les Miles is technically a better coach because he wouldn't have fit the way Hoke does.
