What happened to neighborhood kids cutting grass

  • Where I live a lot of the grass cutting kids from 10 or so years ago started their own landscaping businesses and eventually end up with larger landscaping companies.

If you have no children, then you have no idea what it is like.

My daughter is ten months old and already learning from me (as a PARENT) how to act and behave.

If I don't teach her, how is the world is she suppose to learn anything? Magic 8 ball?

The older generation tried to take shortcuts in their parenting, and now that they have screwed-up children, they want to put the blame on everyone but their selves. That is NOT taking responsibility for their actions, and it is showing in their children.

Yeah, I am a living example of how they are not bad parents.

People are lazy now, there is absolutely NO WAY around that. Get out and do something, work! Don't take what you are given and cry about how you weren't taught everything you felt you deserved!

If I wanted to know something I asked, and if they didn't tell me I asked someone else. There is ALWAYS a way to progress through a situation, baring someone isn't mentally or physically handicapped.

I see a lot of the younger generation putting the blame on their parents instead of taking responsibility for their own action.

A kid eats what they are given by their parents, they don't exactly make it their selves now do they?

Till a certain point yes, but if those kids got jobs they would have money to spend on better food. You can always change it around, but they choose not to, because of laziness.

Oh yeah, they thought they should be handed everything instead of working for it.

Laziness? Or because healthy food (for the most part, for most kids) tastes like shit?

You made a thread about Food, Inc. the other day. They are not excuses but what some people have to live with every day.

Situations are different for different people. You can't go making vast assumptions of other situations based on your own.

If someone is poor and has to work two jobs to make a living and can only afford censored food and they are obese because it,are you really going to call them lazy because they dont go work out and instead get more sleep?

    I

Yes i am! I worked outside weedeating in the hot sun all day long, and I didn't go home and sit on my butt, I went and worked out and then stayed out till late at night if I wanted to. If I wanted something a little bit better to eat, I could buy it for myself.

Even if I couldn't afford it, I would eat bad things in moderation and go hungry some before i was obese.

LOL, so just because it tastes bad people should just choose to shorten their life by eating terrible food?

I said up until a certain age. At a certain point in your life you realize what is healthy for you(hopefully before people weigh 250+) and can choose that salad over that pizza at least a couple times, which by that chart is clearly not happening.

People are more lazy now. That is the truth, were the past generations perfect, no. Are people going to be perfect parents now, no. Take what you got and better it.

    I agree with this.

Parenting results show through your children and it is up to the parents to make sure they instill the right morals and characteristics into their children to better their futures.

However, all these kids that would rather sit inside on a computer and eat junk food when its a perfect sunny day and then wonder why they are fat are to blame for their own laziness, not their parents.

But you said kids. You expect kids to want to choose salad over pizza. And then get a job, and go buy that food for themselves.

AT A CERTAIN POINT. Quit picking and choosing. Notice i did say until a certain point in a post above. Until a certain point you can't help it, but your parents don't raise you your entire life, do they?

When I was 12,13, etc mowing the grass for the neighbors was the easiest money you could get. On the opposite side of the spectrum, my dad always made me cut the backyard but he still won't ask me to cut the front yard when I'm home on breaks. That's his baby and he doesn't want anyone else to deal with it.

For the person who used the 16 hours a day working excuse, that's exactly what it is - an excuse. There's time for exercise if you want to. I've learned that in the last year since I've been running 40-50 miles a week. I used to make excuses that I didn't have time to go play basketball or whatever if I had a couple tests the next day, but by trying to get my miles in I've realized how easy it is to make time. You're never that busy that you can't get 30 minutes in a day and honestly the 5-6 mile runs I do help me with my focus on whatever I need to get done. I watch my roommate make excuses of why he can't go to the gym and than I proceed to watch him waste his time doing something unproductive.

You are truly...tough to get a point across to, with your endless scenarios. I had a job when I was 14 working for my 2nd cousin, when I was 16 I got a job, and then had money to make a change for myself!

Edit: I apologize for calling you ignorant.
