JAMES IRWIN, MS'57, lunar module pilot. It was first expedition with a lunar rover vehicle (used by Scott & Irwin who went to the surface of the moon) and the first flight in which all three astronauts were from the same university. They carried three U-M items: a miniature of the U-M flag, a miniature of the U-M Dept. of Aerospace Engineering seal, and a charter of the U-M Alumni Club of the Moon, which was left on the moon.

Neil Armstrong is notoriously a very private man....yet, he has made several speaking appearances at USC, and is proud of his association and degree from USC.

Dr. Jerry Buss received his two graduate degress from USC, yet considers himself a loyal and die-hard Trojan of 50 years, over Montana where he received his undergraduate degree. As well as his generousity to the academic programs, he is one of two boosters who breaks out his checkbook for the football program - he wrote the check to Tennesse to buy out Lane's contract. Go Lakers!!
