    Completely disagree. There is a huge gap between most teams first and 2nd team players except for maybe one or two positions.

    i see the point and agree somewhat, but to counter point...

    if you had a shut down d, like bama has had recently, it doesn't matter, they won't be on field long anyway.

    by the time the starters/main contributors got tired, they'd be up so much it wouldn't matter.

    if the d forces quick outs, and the o scores quick, even if they can only go to halftime, the score would be so far out of control it would be time for 2nd string anyway.

    Oregon seems to do fine with it... Obviously there is a difference between Oregon's defense and Bama's defense... Obviously if you put Bama's defensive players on Oregon's team they would do better than Oregon's original defense.

    Oregon didn't have anywhere close to our type of defense the last two years. Not sure where you got that. And go look at the Big 12. Look how much their defenses are on the field. Look how many points they give up. A hurry up type offense does not go with a physical shut down defense.

    The type of defense we have recently folded to teams who could throw it around, run fast up the middle in space, and run the hurry up. A&M and AU with Cam, threw it all over us and kept our guys tired. They took away our substitution packages and made the players we had in play. We are all about those subs and we couldn't do it very much due to that fact It hurt. Heck, we were playing true freshman LB's at the end of the A&M game because of it. We have more depth that anyone int he country and they went through it.

  • Auburn had more bigger guys than Oregon had and beat them in the NC that year. I wasn't saying bama and oregon had the same d. I was saying that oregon has a weaker defense then bama. If oregon can cope with the offense I'm sure a defense of bama's caliber would be better.
