What is your best Sandwich recipe?

  • I went to the grocery store yesterday with a mindset of making one hell of a sandwich. I think that we can all admit that it is our go to meal and, when done right, is the best thing their is to eat. Here is mine in order of ingredients:

French bread loaf (about 1 lb cut the old Subway method toasted with olive oil, salt and pepper)
    Bottom loaf
    mayo
    jalapeno mustard
1/2 lb deli cut pepperjack cheese
1/2 lb deli cajun turkey breast
1/2 lb deli black forest ham
    1/2 lb deli roast beef
    baby spinach
squash roasted with olive oil, salt and pepper
    jalapeno pepper (fresh)
    canned banana pepper
bell pepper (green and yellow julienned)
    cilantro (a lot)
    1/2 lb of pepperjack cheese
    horseradish sauce
    mayo
    Top loaf

It was fvcking delicious!!!! It had about 30 bucks worth of stuff in it but it accounts for about 4 8-inch subs when all is said and done. I only ate a quarter of it last night. Anyway, I could always use new sandwich recipes and am looking for Linda's prime rib recipe as well.

Pics provided. Didn't want to unwrap the whole thing but took a pic of the inside and the sheer size of it.

Love me some fried bologna. I really like BBQ fried bologna. Extra thick cut from the deli section of the supermarket.

Scoot-lost me totally with the fried bologna - obviously I'm in the minority here

    I hate bologna in general.

Now if you fry it up and stick it on a sandwich with cheese and a fried egg, see shavisimo's response. I'm the same way with hot dogs. You burn the hell out of a hot dog on the grill and it's one of my favorite meals on the planet. You boil them and I would rather eat shoe leather.

What is Philly beef? I assume you mean steak but I've never heard anyone call it that (I've lived in Philly my whole life, so maybe it's just an outside thing)

  • Tuna salad from a local shop, aged provolone, coleslaw, salt & pepper... sometimes will put sriracha on it... on some kind of good bread... I like toasted rye

  • IMO, there is really no better meal than a great sandwich. Here is one of my favorites - a caprese.
    Ingredients:

A nice chunk of buffalo mozzarella - packed in water.
    A handful of fresh basil.
    Some good olive oil.
A nice heirloom tomato (or any sweet tomato).
A crusty loaf of bread, toasted.
    Salt and pepper to taste.

Puree the basil with olive oil to your desired consistency - more olive oil for a creamier spread, less for more texture. Spread on the bread while warm. Cut a some slices from the mozzarella, and layer with tomato slices on the sandwich. Sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste. Simple, fresh, and delicious. What's nice about it is that, depending on what's in your garden you can add other things to it - bell peppers, jalapenos, arugula, frisee, mushrooms, etc. It's so versatile. Roasted chicken or turkey is great on it, too!
