What is your opinion of obama and football

  • NoVaNoles said...

Sadly it won't be, it will pat itself on the back and look at people like you and me like we are barbaric idiots with no common sense

    Unfortunately, you are correct.

You could be right then maybe something even more violent will replace it like mma and boxing. Plus a lot of millionaires will be out of a job and a lot of billionaires will lose a lot of money

That is why the first step will be changing it to the point it becomes unrecognizable, then the interest will fade until it either dies or becomes something only weirdos and nerds with their fantasy sports pay attention to

Either way football is headed for some dark clouds and there is no real way of telling what kind of storms they will be or how long they last

Also, OP, you forgot to capitalize his name in the thread title. I assume it was a probably a typo, since everything else is capitalized and punctuated correctly.

You have to be kidding me. My iPad did not correct it but it is staying as is

You don't have to drive drunk to know that it's dangerous, the statistics tell you what you need to know.

  • A couple of things that I can add
There is a past precedent for a President getting involved in this debate
Back in the days of no helmets, there was a groundswell of public support to have the game banned becsuse a number of college players died from massive head trauma
Teddy Roosevelt, another POTUS who was a huge sports fan got involved and helped to work out a compromise that lead to rules making helmets mandatory in tackle football
A segment of the population predicted the game would die out.

Presiident Obama didn't say anything that many, many former players haven't said
He was speaking as a parent too, which is perfectly acceptable IMO

As for those who are saying he has no business commenting on the subject, they have no business telling him what he can or cannot comment on.

He was asked a question and he answered it

How many jobs wete lost in the two minutes it took for him to formulate and express his opinion?

And how many would have been created had he said " No Comment?"

    That was a rhetorical question

I personally, like knowing what my President thinks about a myriad of topics, no matter what party he belongs to

For instance when Candidate Obama mentioned that The Wire was his favorite TV show, that went a long way with me because it was mine too.

Not necessarily because we agreed, but because it demonstrated a depth of understanding that I found refreshing and enlightening

Others may have felt the exact opposite and that is fine too
Not everyone got the show, but I have found that I have more in common with those that did

That is just me though, and you could apply the same thinking for somione who would have felt the same way if say, George W Bush had said he loved Toby Keith or Trace Atkins or the show 24

I just think it is always good when we know more about what our President thinks about any number of topics as opposed to less

  • He was asked about it so I don't blame him for the question. I think it is absurd for government to get involved with it since we send out young men into combat for pennies on the dollar compared to what NFL players get. It isn't the 50s where they don't know the dangers. There is plenty of hazard pay and decisions can be logically made.

(And note that I'm not saying Obama is getting the government involved I just think it would be absurd if someone did propose it)

Plenty of things piss me off about this concussion bullshit.

IYAM, lots of people using football or concussions as a scape goat for their loved ones committing suicide.

Concussions didn't make Seau kill himself.

You mean like Dave Duerson's family?
He shot himself in the heart so they could study his brain
And how the fack do you know why Junior Seau shot himself?
Either state your proof or STFU

There is plenty of evidence based on alarming changes in his behavior over the last few years to at least make it safe to assume it was a contributing factor

Anyone who ever met or knew Junior has a hard time believing it didnt play a part, because he was as upbeat and positive as a person could be and that act was completely out of character for him

Just for him to put his family through that was just not in his makeup, especially his mother and father and children

And if you think I am talking out if my ass, my niece is married to a member of his extended family and something drastically changed in the man over the last five years or so and plenty of people noticed and were worried about it

I will breathlessly wait on pins and needles for you to post your proof

Something changed in his behavior once he stopped playing football, and stopped being in the spot light? Colour me shocked brah.

Also how many people who kill themselves were "always smiling" or "the happiest person around". Smiling doesn't mean you are a truly happy.

Facts are, the suicide rate for regular people is higher than football players.

I don't know why Junior shot himself, but it wasn't because he played football. Also even if it was, no one forced him to play football and he got paid millions. So really this witch hunt for football needs to stop.

You said his concussions played no oart in his suicide
I asked you to prove it
    You cant
    End of story
Whether it did or not may never be known, but you made the declaritive ststement, not me
Did Dave Duerson's condition have an imoact on his suicide?
    Go ahead, deny that
Then you make another statement you cant back up
That hus behavior started changing because he wss no longer in the spot light
    Complete BS
That had nothing to do with who Jumior Seau was as a person
You are basing your ststements on NOTHING
    Please stop

    WTF?
Because I asked the guy to back up what he said, I hate fooball?
    LMAO
But on concussions, it isnt just a problem in the NFL
    It is on all levels
Obama wssnt asked if he would let his son play in the NFL and neither was Terry Bradshaw
I suppose Mike Ditka and Tery Bradshaw hate football too?
    Geez, relax Petunia

  • Just ANOTHER distraction.

OBAMA needs to STFU and do something productive.

All this talk is just about football is just a worthless distraction, and most of the American public will/are falling for it.

I see you're still pissed off your side lost the elections.

no im pissed off because hes a shitbag president who isnt doing anything about the state of our economy, our skyrocketting debt, or any of our myriad social problems. george bush sucked ass too but obama is trying his hardest to make bush look like a hard worker

the safety of NFL payers is not important when compared to the good of the rest of the country. if we lived in a perfect workld, sure we can worry about a game. we live in a garbage world and in the scheme of things pussying up a game is a major waste of time

its comments like yours that make me dislike democrat voters so much. the people that make snide little remarks like this make your party look comepletely idiotic. its the same with the ultraconservative bible thumpers that make republicans look like religious zealots that are afraid of social progress and change

  • Maybe Obama will suggest to Roger Goodell that guys like Tom Brady and Peyton Manning ought to share some of their salaries with undrafted free agents who are making the bare minimum. After all, they are more "fortunate" than those free agent guys so naturally they ought to share their wealth to help these guys.
