What is your voting process?

  • I hand them my voter registration card, they scan the bar code and then ask me if I'm VTSmitty (not my real name). They give me a little ticket, like a movie ticket and I stand in line. Finally someone yells "machine 6". The guy directing traffic takes my ticket and directs me to machine 6. I vote on a touch screen, which takes about 30 seconds or less. Turn to exit, and get tagged with an I voted sticker on the way out.

It is a really efficient and quick process and moved unexpectedly fast

  • We stand in line forevor. You finally get to the front, and hand them your ID. They then push you to the side while your ballot is printed. Then they call you to verify your name and address. Then you fill in little bubbles on the sheet. Then they scan said sheet. Then you get stickered.

Damn! That sucks. I guess I am ignorant enough to figure if my hometown of 5,000 has these cool voting gadgets, then everyone does. Literally, the touch screen voting is 30 seconds. SEC guys would go 20-22 seconds tops.

  • Go up to a table to the guy/girl for letters of your last name. Show then your ID. They write you a ticket, you get a scantron ballot, fill it out, put it through a machine and leave. Took three minutes max.

  • Waited in line for an hour this morning. Lots of confusion due to redistricting. I heard 225, 228, 227, 229 and 216 when it was only 225 and 228 haha. Hand them my drivers license (must have picture ID), lady hands me a yellow card with sticker (Step 1). I follow blue tape and hand yellow card to guy, I sign and bubble in that I understand, he hands me both ballot pages (step 2). I go to table with wall things and bubble in my choices then feed my ballots into a machine thing. Grab sticker (best part)

  • Go to a table and the person with your last name letters tell them your name, they'll ask you a question usually your address, answer that. Then you sign the sheet and get handed a paper ballot and a plastic case. Fill out the ballot the old fashioned way with a provided #2 pencil. Put paper ballot in the plastic case then dump ballot into a box and hand back plastic case. Receive awesome sticker.

Edit: that's how they did it for the primaries. I did mail in ballot for this election since Im away at college.

  • I can't imagine waiting in line for 2-3 hours or even longer. That would be awful. There has to be a way to fix that. More locations maybe.

  • Lets see not even sure I should of voted today. The reason I say this is because I attend school in Maine but am a resident of Alabama. However, people from my university registered me to vote in Maine a few weeks prior to the election. But to my point, when I went to vote on campus, they just asked me my name and gave me a ballot. They never asked for an I.D. Also, our school had lawyers there if there were any kind of problem with getting people registered on the spot.... I thought this all seemed weird and not very official. But again, I don't know the rules/laws to all this.

  • Really cool to hear the differences. I feel like a damn 5 year old with the "I voted" sticker. Have worn it proudly all day. I have seen many other "I voted" stickers at work, but the one I got is really sweet.

  • Watch TV. People on TV are important. People on TV subtly imply or outright say who to vote for or I'm [insert euphemism]. Call people who disagree me said euphemism. Vote.

I admire you for having a solid game plan and sticking it with it. [insert appropriate emoticon]

I agree. That's why I was concerned alittle. I asked a few of my friends and they didn't get asked for their I.D either.

  • Walked up to the desk, and the people ask for your name, which is alphabetically organized, so certain letters go together. Told him/her my name, signed in, then you have to verify your address, then sign his/her paper. Then they give you a ballot and you go bubble in your choices, then send it through the machine. Took 5-10 minutes.

  • I waited in line for about half an hour this morning at 7:30. Showed my license, got my ballot, voted and then left. It was a quick and easy process.
