What starters did you lose from last year to this year?

  • Just wondering how much teams lost and what is still little unknown.

For Auburn (someone can add to this if they want I won't remember all of them)

    Neiko Thorpe Saftey
Eltoro Freeman MLB (didn't start most of the year)
    AJ Green LT
    Brandon Moseley RT
    M. Dyer RB
    B. Trotter QB (Started a few games)

  • Offense:
    LT: Matt Kalil
    FB: Rhett Ellison

    Defense:
    DE: Nick Perry
    DT: DaJohn Harris
    DT: Christian Tupou
ILB: Chris Galippo (though Lamar Dawson started last few games)

    Probably forgetting some others...

  • Offense:
    JB4
    Rainey
    Demps
    Thompson
(All are addition by subtraction. And I love Demps & Rainey and what they did for us but they just don't fit the pro-style O. Also, appreciate Brantley for gutting out the ankle injury to give us a chance against Jorja and that's all I'm gonna say on him.)

    Defense:
    Jay Howard
    Ronald Powell to injury

    DL: WIll Heininger
    S: Troy Woolfolk?

  • Offense:
G: David Snow: was ok, not that good really. His replacement this year is a lot better
RB: Fozzy Whitaker- injured the second half of last year, great special teams player, was running it really well before injury. Big locker room presence- we'll miss him for his leadership but there's a ton of talent back there.

    Defense:
DT: Kheeston Randall- he's a loss, we'll need someone to step up and anchor the d-line
LB: Emmanuel Acho and Keenan Robinson: We lose a lot of experience here, but the guys replacing them have more talent, they just need the reps.
S: Blake Gideon- addition by subraction

Just wondering how much teams lost ...

i dont really look at the number of "lost starters" but instead focus on the returning talent & depth that will take their place .

8+ returning starters on both sides of the ball means very little if the returners got thrashed the season before & have little
to no depth behind them . coffee

  • Offense:
Rokevious Watkins OT/OG--best OL last year
Alshon--speaks for itself...had a bit of an off year, but our QB play was shakey until later in the season

    Defense:
Melvin Ingram--Very unique talent at DT/DE...made a ton of plays for us; you don't replace a guy like that, but Kelcey Quarles has the potential to be one of the best in the SEC
Travian Robertson--stout run stuffer type DT...we think we have some bodies to step in and hold their own at this position
    Stephon Gilmore--talent speaks for itself...tough to replace someone of his gifts but we should be fine with Akeem Auguste who comes back to his more natural position of CB...he's a kid prone to taking some chances, but also prone to making some plays;
Antonio Allen--played Spur [a LB/Safety hybrid] and was as dynamic a player as we've had at that position; as prodigiously talented/athletic as DeVonte Holloman is, hard to imagine that he'll have the same level of productivity as AA

Offense is right, all those guys were important starters.

Troy Woolfolk lost his spot by mid-season to Thomas Gordon. Will Heininger played in every game, but I really wouldn't consider him a true starter. He was more of a role player. A decent role player, but he wasn't like a real "starter" or nearly as good as Mike&RVB.

    not really

the difference in 10' was an unexpected early entry departure at RightCorner.
an injury to Menzie coupled with Rob Green's "mardi gras" trip left the spot to be filled by a freshmen.

so actually it wasnt the lost starter but more so the lost returners .

USCe (even Garcia) played a perfect game, LSU came down to a play or two in their favor , and then
there was the regular season finale that was "given" away.

ofcourse the poor Big10 co-champs were served up as sacrificial lambs to end things on the right note.

I thought depth wasn't an issue? Why would injuries matter?

Apparently depth is not an issue for Bama so it doesn't matter what starters you loose.

    1. It did matter... big time.
    2. You're really that stupid.
    3. You can't say that was a give away if I can't say it was a testament to that season for Auburn. We were the best 2nd half defense in the nation... and right before half time we sliced your jugular.

Don't even try to talk your way out of how dumb of a post that was. Kite is just a mod so he can't lay a verbal smack down on you like he could, even I took it light.

Some people don't know the difference between a good player and one that will be a good player.
