What was it like when all your friends started getting married?

  • Recently a lot of my friends have been tying the knot. I'm 25 and have a serious gf, but am NO WHERE close to making that commitment.

Going through this right now.. It sucks going to 5 different weddings all pretty much back to back.

In the same boat. This past month I've had 4 friends get engaged and one just bought a ring.

Ive got other friends who have told me that they've already found the girl who they're gonna marry.

Me, I'm still stuck loving the single life

  • I got married when I was 26 and got divorced at 39(I'm 40 now) Don't rush into marriage or settle because your friends are getting married. We waited a few years before we had kids but that's when it all changes.

  • My fends started getting married right out of high school. Kinda sucks since I was going to college and they were having kids.

Haven't seen them in years honestly. We just don't have anything in common any more and we live different lifestyles.

  • Im 32 most my friends started getting married over the past 2 years and I have been married 1+. We are one of the few in the group with a child which is prob the biggest adjustment, we still get together alot and have a ton of fun either using a sitter or take him with us to certain stuff. We always said we would still travel and have a good time. Some people get married and have kids and shut down but it just takes more planning and $$

  • I'm 25 and engaged, getting married to my girlfriend of 5+ years next May. I'm kind of ahead of the curve than most of my friends, but one of my best friends since childhood just got married this past Saturday and I have four more weddings before the end of September.

It's like a god damn landslide, strangely enough though, everyone who is getting married this year has been together less time than me and my fiance.

When out with my single friends I think how fun that is chasing A** not having to worry about much, but it does get old at times as well. Everything has its pros and cons

Same boat, together over 8+ years before getting married. All those wedding has to be some bachelor parties to enjoy, you know to support the groom you have to go!

  • Most of my friends have kids that are in school. I remember the parties though. There was about a 5 or 6 year stretch that was crazy with my wife and my friends. Seemed like a wedding every few weeks, except during football season.

  • Just turned 25 in March. Best friend isn't even dating anyone. 2 close friends are either engaged or married. Another close friend probably won't get engaged until he finishes law school next May.

I'm with "the one" and have been for 10 months, but I'm not proposing this year.

When you live in Alabama it's easy to feel weird for not being married when you're 24. The single life seems to be more popular in bigger cities with more things for single people to do.

Just another reason for me to get out of here

  • Been married 5 years now and the wife wants to renew the vows. Fine by me I get another bachelor party out of it.

Strange is a good way to put it. Especially because my good buddy, who I met through mutual friends at FSU and work with now is the most recent one of my friends to pop the question (I totally did not expect it and found via facebook - GAY!!!!). Me and this guy PARTIED OUR BALLS off together at FSU. He dated his now fiance throughout college and I dated her throughout high school (he's a year older than me). They're in the Bahamas right now celebrating.

As an above poster mentioned it also sucks not seeing your friends ESPECIALLY after they have kids.
One of my best friends from high school (same age as I) had two kids within 6 months of each other and he's like a ghost.
