What's Bethesda's next big release?

Fallout 2 and Fallout 3 are worlds apart, no real comparison. They take place in the same world, but they're different types of games. Fallout 3 uses the same engine as Oblivion and Skyrim.

I thought the fallout 2 controls were goofy. I had just finished Mass Effect 2 in which I felt the controls and UI were smooth as butter and Fallout 2 seemed clunky..

    edit...sorry fallout 3 was the one I didn't like, not 2...

Fallout 2 is 14 years old so that is understandable.

I really have to start doing my research because until now over never even heard of some of these games which brings me to my next question.

I'm seeeeriously thinking of signing up for that game package so I can play any game I want and have it sent to my house. Forgot what it's called (gamefly maybe?). Do y'all recommended this??

Gamefly. I have it and enjoy it because I beat games so quickly they are rarely worth a purchase to me. My only gripe is that it is usually tough to get new releases quickly, unless you have already returned your game and have nothing in your que except for the new release on the day before it comes out.

If you remember to do that you can usually get new release the day after they come out. You can also then purchase the game as used even though you are the only one who has used it.

Fallout 2....I got VERY interested in it, then it lost my attention fast. Is it worth restarting? or should I just buy Fallout 3.

Fallout 3 ASAP. I haven't played 1 and 2 but I've seen videos of them. You're going to be quite surprised at what you're getting into with part 3 (in a good way).

Go ahead and get Fallout 3 "Game of the year edition" so you get all the extras.

Was this recently, since you became hooked on Skyrim and Fallout? I feel Oblivion and Skyrim are more similar then they're different, sure its been years since I played Oblivion but I don't really feel it lacked anything compared to Skyrim.

I tried Oblivion after Skyrim which I try to stay away from given that games usually get better graphically and you miss some of the backstory. They're definitely similar but for whatever reason I just didn't get into oblivion. I love Skyrim but I'm obsessed with Fallout 3 and I'm positive I will feel the same on all their future fallout releases. I was even a fan of New Vegas. Not obsessed, but a fan nonetheless.

  • Skyrim is the GOAT in my opinion, and the Elder Scrolls Online looks VERY promising.

I am still playing Skyrim actually.

I'm still playing as well and this time I'm leaving no stone unturned. Once I've done everything possible I'm going to save the game and go back through every town on a killing spree lol...

I started another new game on Fallout 3 two night ago as well. Sad but true...

Should I get Fallout 3 if I am not interested in the setting? Meaning, I love games set in medieval times... post-apocalyptic stuff, not so much

The game is amazing but I'd say no if you don't care for the things you mentioned.

The setting is kinda irrelevant. It's just an amazing game.

You could also start w New Vegas. IMO the apocalyptic backstory is irrelevant. Plus, the desert wasteland setting is the tits. First time you walk into new Vegas it's like "oooooh"

Fallout New Vegas is not the sequel to Fallout 3 therefore the apocoliptic backstory wouldn't apply here. If anything it's a prequel of sorts. Although the gameplay in New Vegas is identical to FO3 developed by Bethesda, the game itself is a side project developed by Obsidian Entertainment (I believe they did parts 1/2). From what I've read Bethesda owns the Fallout name now and plans to make several more Fallouts all sequels to the original while Obsidian develops a few more "side project" fallouts like New Vegas. The cool thing is you can literally keep everything the same, change the locations and keep making the graphics/storylines better and better as you go and I'll buy every last one of them. Don't change core whatsoever. What they started with part 3 set the stage for many more imo and you'd have to think that was their intention with this series. If it has the word fallout on it I'm getting it. End of story.

Ugh. Seriously dude? I have played FO3 and NV like a hundred times apiece. All DLC's. Everything. Not sure why you feel the need to drop a history/education lesson on me. I'm acutely aware of the design of the games.

Marshall said he doesn't like post apocalyptic stuff. I suggested he try NV first (which OBVIOUSLY is still post-apocalyptic, since it is set AFTER the events of FO3). It's not as centered on the storyline as FO3. It's way more political/philosophically centered, and has little to do with anything in it's predecessor.

Finally, the actual "setting" of FO3 is irrelevant to me. Find your dad. Shoot bad guys. Turn the water on.

Hell, the DLC's take you to space, the Swamplands, and Alaska. All are ridiculous and awesome and have no impact on the storyline.

    Is this more clear?

PS. New Vegas is indeed post-apocalyptic. It DOES apply. The giant radioactive scorpions should've tipped you off.

Congrats on literally being the only person to get offended ITT. I meant the post-apocoliptic backstory doesn't apply here as in "you don't need to play F03 to enjoy NV because although the same, they're very different". I was supporting your post. Also I backed that up by saying the two games play exactly the same but don't have the same storyline at all which again is me supporting your suggestion for Marshall. The rest of my post was just me attempting to have a mature discussion based on a subject were you and I share similar interest. No disrespect or history lesson was intended.
