1.Ohio state =because of Urban Meyer
2.Maryland =Home Town Hero pull, and Mike Locksley and Wes Brown is best friend team mate picked MD.
3.Florida =Its Florida.
4.Auburn =Tropper and SEC pull.

Urban Meyer was not the mastermind that made them offensively great. It was 40% Mullen and 60% Tebow/Alex Smith.
Meyer is a supreme recruiter though so your end point makes sense just not the reasoning.

I was at Auburn when that happened and even though I am obviously an Auburn fan, that was a fantastic hit from a football stand point.

Not sure I would agree with Auburn being a secondary program. Obviously they won the NC just last year. They also had an undefeated season in '04 and 5th all time in the SEC in wins.
