When USC gets

  • A real Head Football Coach, watch out. Right now we have a dead man walkin' in Lane, but he will make a fool of himself again in 2013, in which he will be fired. We will then bring in a great coach, Smart or James Franklin, & watch out. If there is one good thing Kiffin has done for SC, is he has stock piled talent. He will bring in tha #1 Class, problem is he cant coach em up. Theres no denying USC has a ton of talent, even with sanctions this team is loaded. As u have seen, all it takes is a year or 2,for a good head coach to bring in his scheme & attitude to change things around (Urbs-Buckeyes, Sulin-A&M,Muschamp-UF,Kelley-ND) I know you guys will LOL but this is real talk, it will be like Bama lite.

  • I'm telling you that James Franklin is going to be a star as a HC in college football before all is said and done. That dude can flat out coach.

I don't think that anyone on the board thinks that USC is going to be down for long. The scholly limitations will take their toll, but as soon as they are over, USC will be right back up there. To good of a program to be down for long.

  • USC needs a better TV deal.... $28 million in revenue?

  • It's amazing how one season can change a fan base's perception. Just a few months ago USC fans were telling everyone how great of a coach Kiffen was. Four months later he is a dead man walkin' and can't coach a lick, go figure.

USC does not report its very lucrative merchandising revenue in the athletic budget, like most universities...as well as other monies.

There is a lot of money in the university, it's athletic revenue is loose change in comparison. All the football scholarships, coaches salaries are fully endowed, boosters provide additional monies for whatever is needed.

We're not unique to this, I just posted a rant from a Domer after the Navy loss, and the next year, they played in the NC. Last season was 10-2, with the one of the losses in triple overtime, and we beat the floats with a ton of freshmen and sophomores.

Who knows what went wrong, but it did. What kind of fan doesn't think their team will win it all? I can tell you, we won't stand losing for long.

Well, you had a longer, drier spell than we did...and see where you are now? Proof that any great historically elite program can come back.

Until you guys get a really disciplinary of a coach down there i feel your teams will continue to under achieve. I mean letting 18 + kids loose in L.A is sometimes not the best formula for a football team.

Off the field discipline is not a problem at all
Lane and Haden do not mess around at all and they have recruited very high character kids
Grad rates are up to 87% and that factors in the kids who transferred out in 2010-2011 and the 4 or 5 who left early for the NFL
You rarely hear of any Kiffin recruuts not named Dillon Baxter effing up

    BlemBlam3

  • Just stick with him this year and his buyout decreases a lot and spend the year silently setting up the replacement. Is it 2015 when your scholly limitations end?

In 2015 you sign 32 or so guys and it will be a jaw dropping class.

Can't believe he had the nerve to post that. Where were the float players on their spring break?

We have a lot of great kids on the team, with high GPAs...add the ones coming in are top students that qualified for schools like Stanford, Notre Dame, Vanderbilt and other great schools.

On the field success does not equate to great human beings, and that holds true in reverse.

I agree, Mr. Blem...........off the field discipline is not a problem. However, on the field discipline is......in my opinion.

Until USC gets back to it's roots of hard nosed punishing running backs and NFL first round linebackers and safeties, things won't change. Tailback U has become wide receiver U...........that won't work.

Kiffin, like most morons that follow recruiting, is in love with himself, star ratings and recruiting rankings. It matters not how many five stars you sign if you don't develop them. That's the part he is deficient in. USC, under the current regime, is not developing the talent they get. Recent NFL draft numbers support this.

With all that said, Kiffin filled a need. USC would have never gotten a coach with a worthy resume while being ass raped by the NCAA and the PAC. The dirty recruiting tactics employed by Whoregon and the trees towards the end of the PC era didn't help USC any either.

We can all sit around and start threads about how inept USC has become........as long as we remember this..............USC has more money than God, they are smack in the middle of a talent rich state and they have a national brand second to none. It's only a matter of time before they take their rightful place at the top of college football rankings.

I agree with this, when don't I agree with you?

We can afford to wait this sanction thing out, and we will. Meanwhile, we still have enough clout to attract kids that have always dreamed of playing for USC, regardless of wins/losses. We'll see how long that holds true, till then, we have a lot of other things to find joy and success in, much more important things concerning our university.

I'm so glad that those that support the football program, give with no thought of control or visibility..they just give. In the end, when we come out of this, we can offer the highest salary in CFB, including our assistant coaches (Monte's 1.5 million was no problem), plus the other numerous perks that come with being a coach at USC, like free rent from a booster in a million dollar home in prime real estate by the beach. So yes, that big salary stretches far, even in California. biggrin.

I believe everyone uses dirty recruiting tactics from time to time. In Stanford's case, it was encouraging recruits to string USC along, then commit to them - but, I don't know if that's really true, and don't care...it's up to us to select kids that want to commit to the school, not a coach or winning program.

Although we get accused of it by outsiders, the NCAA didn't think we committed any recruiting violation...they just thought we "should" have known about RB's family perks by an outside agent.

Of course, Oregon is not accused of recruiting violations, right?

Encourages recruits to string SC along sounds absurd. Not buying it, unless it actually came from a recruits mouth.

Talking ish about other programs is weak, but it's hardly dirty. Yeah I could see other coaches in the league saying "PC has a foot out the door, come here instead". But this is about the extent of the "dirty tactics" that go on in the PAC. As for SC's hammer it had nothing to do with recruiting whatsoever (in football anyway). Regardless, all the dirty that's going on in the PAC has really hurt SC's recruiting... Gotta be rough only having 63 5-star players on the roster rather than the customary 64.5.

From what info is publicly available, I don't think Oregon was playing dirty either. If they were then they really, really suck at it.
