This is now the official what percentages did the third party candidates get thread.

My goal is that in 8-16 years for their to be a large enough percentage of Independent voters that one party takes note and slides a little bit to the middle.

Also voted against every incumbent up for re-election to Washington.

Now the question, did the state you vote in impact you voting for those candidates? (i.e. if you live in Alabama, there's no pressure because the election is predetermined, but if you live in Ohio your vote was more likely to "count")

No, which is part of the reason why I voted for Johnson. If I lived in a swing state, I would have voted differently.

In other news, how did Roseanne Barr pick up 30,000+ votes in California?

No. I couldn't bring myself to vote for either candidate. Glad Romney didn't win, but am not really thrilled about Obama either. Mainly hoping one day that the Independent candidates can carry 5-10% of the vote so that one of the parties will see the benefit of not being so extreme.

Because I didn't want to vote for Barack Romney? Errr, Mitt Obama?

I wish there was a loophole where you could have split-party ticketing, but still be rewarded for public election funding for both if they reach the requirement. I think if the third parties worked together, they could be more successful in their attempts to reach 5%. I think a wealthy and/or influential individual could help as well (e.g. Perot, Nader).
