To be able to do what Phelps has done over the past 8 years is unbelievable.
Based on the comments in this thread you guys have obviously never swam at a competitive level. My daughter does and you would be amazed at how hard she trains. At barely 11 she swims 2 1/2 hours a day and does endurance/strength training on land for 1 hour a day (before her 2 1/2 hour swimming session). I would bet that most on tBB would be unable to keep up with her.....Phelps training schedule would kill you. Also have any of you tried to learn the CORRECT way to do the breast stroke or butterfly? The athletes at the Olympics make it look easy because they are the best of the best. It isn't. Not to mention that there are very specific ways you have to make your turns. There are a lot of things that go into swimming successfully. It isn't just going out there and swimming as fast as you can.
And while I respect what Tiger Woods has accomplished, to put him ahead of Phelps as an athlete is truly ignorant.

You guys really need to think about this. What do you think stands a better chance of happening, Phelps being good enough to be in the NBA or LBJ being a world class swimmer? I'd lean on Phelps side. And stay away from the certain stereotype I know some people will say. Don't need Brady Hoke up in this bish.
