What private school located on the east coast will achieve this title? I saw someone related to the Duke football program state that slogan when describing how they wanted to replicate Stanford's model.
IMO the eligible programs are:
-Duke
-Syracuse
-Vanderbilt
-MiamiDuke has hired a decent HC who led the team to their first bowl in decades this year. Cutcliffe turned down Tennessee to stay at Duke and I think he can be loyal and make them a decent team. He also has QB coached a elite pedigree of NFL QB talent (Manning brothers etc) so I think he will be able to lure a elite QB to Duke in the coming years. Cutcliffe is on contract until 2019 and in October Duke pledged 100m for football renovations and just completed a massive new indoor practice field and facility.
With a easy conference to get wins, a loyal HC, massive new investments in Football, and a name symbolic with elite education and elite athletics I can see them turning around their football program.
Miami has a very rich history and a premium recruiting location. Lack of football facilities coupled with high land costs is a big obstacle. Along with the part where they can't keep their hands clean. Miami has very good academics and great overall location also but the lack of investment from the university heads is going to hurt them in the long run IMO.
Syracuse is known for great academics and elite basketball also so I can see them being a contender also.
Vanderbilt has a elite education but it isn't as world renown as Duke. Also I never think of Athletics when I think of Vandy, they don't have much history in that area. Vandy has a good coach now but their is no way I see him sticking around if he lands a big time offer to a elite football school in good shape. The part where Vandy is in a very hard football conference also hurts them on the winning side of things.
Final rankings
Miami=Duke>Vandy>Syracuse

Because tri-county recruits see what they get at a modern football school and stay at Miami anyways.
As soon as a Miami recruit visits else where they are lost to Miami.
