Morning USCtrojan1, over/under today before someone insults you for an opinion.

Good morning sweetheart, you well know the over/under how much I give a damn, and it will not deter me from continuing to voice my opinion.

For anyone paying attention, those opinions have sometimes been in their favor, and not my own program.

Greatest 7 years? No... Top 5... Yes...

I think it comes down to USC (2002-2008) vs Miami's 7 run from 1986-92.

But, what is your top 5?

    NcaaAssassinG13

  • I don't know what a top 5 would be like but you can look at certain decades and pick out some pretty impressive runs.

    1960's: Alabama
    1970's: Michigan/OSU, Oklahoma
    1980's: Miami
    1990's: Florida State, Nebraska
    2000's: USC

You could make arguments for any of those dynasties, but it doesn't really matter.

think what he was saying is that BAMA is not on a short dynasty list as their run is still going on and should be for years to come ...unless i missed it which is entirely possible

7 year parameter puts fsu on top for me...8 losses in 7 years...top 4 every year...2 national titles...5 national champ games..

I agree Bama is the NC can't argue that and that Bama will be near the top for seasons to come but the envy of every team well that's USC. USC is LA, Hollywood, families vacation where we play football. USC is ranked #1 preseason poll with the 2013 recruiting class already considered the best in CFB. Sounds like USC is now everyone's favorite AGAIN. BAMA is a very close 2nd

who vacations in Compton? I mean seriously what's next, Taking two weeks off work next summer for a trip of a lifetime with my kids...We are hitting Cleveland, Detroit, Flint and ending with three days in Gary? Nobody EVER would go to Compton for vacation..Malibu yes, Compton(USC) no

That run was amazing, especially considering the losses were always first game of the year then you would roll, or wide vs another power

USC hosts the largest Book Festival in the country...because, Californian's read more than any other state in country, per capita. 100,000 people had no problem showing up in Compton to enjoy culture and literature.

I think if you take Miami's 3 years in the early 2000's (2000-02),
and you take what Alabama has done the last 4 years (08-11),
and combined it, than those 2 together fall just a little short of what
USC accomplished over these 7 years (02-08).

Those 7 years being the greatest 7 years in a row that any school has ever produced.
    IMO

    Are you kidding?

How about FSU 1993-2000? They won 2 NCs, played in 5 NC games, and finished top 5 every single year...and didn't get hit with sanctions for cheating while they did it.

How was USC 02-08 even remotely close to that?

    USC 2002-2008

    USC 82-9 .901 / FSU 77-8-1 .901
    2 titles
    3 title games/ could've been 5
    3 Heismans in 4 years
    Top 4 7 straight years

USC vs 3 loss or less AQ teams (86%)
FSU vs 3 loss or less AQ teams (77%)

USC and FSU's #'s are quite similar, but what separates the 2 is the schedule IMO
1- FSU was playing 8 games a year vs ACC teams
2- USC had a better record against elite 3 loss or less AQ teams.
3- FSU lost 4 games by more than a touchdown in that 86 game span
USC played all 90 games never losing by more than 7 pts.

From ND game of 01 to Oregon game of 09, USC set a record that might never be broken, by going
103 consecutive games (92-11), never losing a game by more than 7 pts.

  • Bobby Bowden's golden yrs shouldve produced way more than 2 NC's, but still..

Bowden's best yrs >>>>> Pete's, Sabans, Spurrier etc. And thats not a knock on anybody. FSU was just better than everybody else.

Miami was loaded in '01, but FSU had some crazy recruiting classes back then.

I lol at all these "best recruiting class ever" remarks nowadays. Bowden's squads were top to bottom deep and full of quality players, during his prime.

Funny, didn't see your post until after I just posted how similar it was,
but how USC wasn't playing a Boise St like schedule vs the ACC, so USC's run was better.

And yes, they did get hit for cheating (how soon they forget)
    Free Shoes University, combined with
multiple players accepting money from agents
or in other words FSU had twice as many Reggie Bush's

I don't know what a top 5 would be like but you can look at certain decades and pick out some pretty impressive runs.

    1960's: Alabama 1970's: Michigan/OSU, Oklahoma 1980's: Miami 1990's: Florida State, Nebraska 2000's: USC

You could make arguments for any of those dynasties, but it doesn't really matter.

In the '60s USC was NC in '62 and '67 finished second in '68 ties Alabama for NC's and they didn't finish in the top 5 any other year.

In the '70s USC was NC in '72-'74 and '78 finishing second in '79. That trumps anything OU, OSU and UM did in that decade.

I have always thought highly of FSU's streak of finishing top 4/5 for 14 years in a row. I don't care who you play, that is hard to do.

How can you put Michigan among those 70 teams over USC? Or ANY of those other teams over USC?

Our 72 team was the greatest team of that decade, we won at least a share of the MNC in 74 and 78 and our 79 team came within one bad half against Stanford 21-21 tie after leading 21-0

I would put Oklahoma up way higher than OSU and Michigan and maybe even Bama. We split the 78 Title with them, despite beating them in Birmingham

But I believe we were something like 6-0 in Rose Bowls and OSU was 1-4 and Michigan was 0-5
