Which one loss team would play for the BCS Championship?

Alabama 11-1 (loss @ LSU by 3)
FSU 12-1 (loss @ N.C. State by 6)--N.C. State finishes 8-4
USC 12-1 (loss v. Oregon by 4 in the PAC 12 Championship)
Oregon 12-1 (loss v. USC by 7 in regular season)
Oklahoma 11-1 (loss @ West Virginia by 3)--West Virginia finishes 9-3

Geesh, not one game has been played yet, all the top ten could implode by mid season, and some unexpected team could rise to the top. I'm not believing the hype on any program, including my own.

Most likely Oregon. USC's computer number would be better, but Oregon would have lost to #1 or #2 Oregon 2 weeks prior to OU losing to WVU. So you are looking at a top-4 Oregon beating a #1 or #2 USC team on CCG weekend. More than enough to leap them over Bama, with USC probably staying above Bama as well, or at least stealing votes from them to provide buffer in the human polls from a possibly stronger computer number from Bama. Oregon would also have a tie in the best loss, and win the best win argument over Bama.
I am not even sure an undefeated FSU team would go over a 1 loss USC, Bama, or Oregon, much less a 1 loss one.

FSU as an absolutely atrocious schedule, and an ACC team has not won a bcs game in 10 years despite having some of the most favorable matchups (big east champ, or other bcs #2).
How could anyone in good conscience put an undefeated FSU over say a 1 loss USC team if they go 1-1 vs Oregon (would must win the 2nd matchup)

The eye test, at least for me, is about %80 of how I would rank teams.
My eyes dont lie but numbers can be misleading.
Stat padding vs bad teams, running the score up.. Etc..

Very likely, but it would be hard to put USC over Oregon, if Oregon just beat USC in the PAC-12 CG, simply from a perspective standpoint.
So many other variables to consider at this point in time though. If Michigan goes 12-1 with their only loss to Bama, that would be huge, Notre Dame's performance will be a big factor, obviously how the ACC teams perform against their SEC counterparts is going to be a factor. Just based on the limited scenario provided by the OP, I would figure Oregon to be the pick.

A lot has changed since 2000. FSU still had a great mystique around them then. 15 straight years of top-5 finishes fresh in everyone's minds. Now the ACC has been relegated to Big East status, in the past SOS was not considered much as it is today, hence BYU winning a mNC in the 80's.

This, and the schedule isn't anymore atrocious then USC or Oregon. An undefeated FSU garners alot of respect and would never be jumped by a one loss team
