Who actually has a chance at the NC?

  • I was thinking about it today and it really is a very small number this year. From West to East...

    PAC12:

    Stanford
Oregon - possible, but I'm not buying a first year HC title run

    Big 12:

    I honestly don't see one

    Big 10:

    Ohio State

    SEC:

    Alabama
    Texas A&M
    Georgia

    ACC:

FSU - not buying it, if only because everything would have to go perfectly for them to make it, but you almost have to list them

Am I missing anything? I did a double take when I realized that the list is only 7 teams long with two of them (Oregon and FSU) not being entirely realistic. I can't remember a year where fewer teams had a shot coming in to the season.

SEC champ will come from 1 of those 3. They will be in it

If OSU goes undefeated, no way they get left out.

Oregon with new coach will probably slip up. Stanford is going to be in the mix. Notre Dame will get lisping Lou to pine for them but short of a miracle, folks won't be able to forget last year.

Another team that could be in the mix is Clemson. I hope not because that means they beat us.

Art Schlichter's cellmates and Mo Clarett's rugby team believe Ohio State always does things honestly.....

No Lattimore says no for me when it comes to South Carolina. Don't see Florida getting it done as long as Driskol is there.

Also, I'm not necessarily predicting that Georgia wins the East. I just think that they're the only team that could beat Alabama or A&M in a championship game.

  • Even with our weak ass schedule I don't see FSU going undefeated which is the only way we get in.

Hate to say it, I'd put $$ on bammer next year.
    Things could change.

  • Nebraska is 2nd in the big 10. Have you seen that schedule. It's a joke. If they could sack up for once its possible.

    He's not joking:

    Wyoming
    Southern Miss
    UCLA
    South Dakota State
    -Open Date-
    Illinois
    @ Purdue
    -Open Date-
    @ Minnesota
    Northwestern
    @Michigan
    Michigan State
    @ Penn State
    Iowa

We dropped Wisc and Ohio State, picked up Illinois and Purdue. Went from arguably the toughest Big Ten schedule in our first two years to one of the easiest in the next two.

Not saying we would, but you do realize we have beaten a ton if teams without Latt right?

Same for Michigan. We have all of our tough games (ND, OSU, Nebraska) at home and the only tough-ish road games are @MSU and @PSU.

If we somehow go through the easy schedule without slipping up, we'd probably have to play OSU again in the Big Ten title game. If we do the improbable and beat them twice, the NCG would be more of a joke than this year. It'd be kinda funny.

Not going to happen. Team still lacks experienced premier talent.

Next year is the last year that RichRod's terrible recruiting will have an effect on Michigan IMO.

Secondary and o-line just is too young to succeed.

How many of those guys stuck around?

Also, notice how I highlighted OL and DB? How many players from those classes were from those positions?

Goes deeper than recruiting rankings brah, wouldn't expect you to get it though, never mistaken you for a genius.

Oh I agree, I was just piggybacking off the Nebraska guy saying their schedule is easy.

With Maryland and Rutgers joining in 2014, I know we're redoing our schedule. If that schedule is as favorable as this one, we could make some noise that year. We'll see shrug

  • Ya. It'd be a shoot out unless our defense figures it out. They will be more athletic nex year but very young. Not sure that's enough to beat OSU.

But hey, anything can happen. Nebraska is due, they've been bridesmaid to many times lately.

So Rich Rod didn't recruit horribly, he just had bad luck in keeping players in the program?

    '08 - 4 OL, 2 DB's
    '09 - 3 OL, 4 DB's
    '10 - 1 OL, 5 DB's

    Haha.

We have some good running backs. Brandon Wilds, Mike Davis, and Shon Carson.

The speedster David Williams will be a freshman as well

Your numbers are extremely deceiving. You aren't looking at the actual picture.

    2008

OL-Omameh, Barnum, George Morales (never played, not sure he actually got a scholly), Rocko Khoury (also never played)
DB- Cissoko (went to jail after about 4 games), Brandon Smith (never played at Michigan)
    Terrible recruiting at those positions.

    2009

OL- Lewan, Washington (not an OL), Schofield.
DB- Witty (never got to Michigan, offered to land Denard), Thomas Gordon, Vlad Emilien (transferred), Isiah Bell (never played, transfered)
Decent OL recruits, low in numbers though. Terrible DB recruiting.

    2010

OL- Pace (never played, career ending injury, sucked anyway)
DB- Dorsey (never sniffed campus), Terrance Talbott (transferred after a year), Josh Furman (total bust), Cullen Christian (transferred before a year was up), Courtney Avery, and Marvin Robinson (another total bust)

Again that was an absolute terrible job at recruiting. Not sure why you try to argue otherwise, facts speak for themselves? Oh right, you are just a typical Bucknut.
