I agree with this except for the fact that alot of professional programs up north take up some of the bitterness..down here its 24-7 365 days a year! Alabama and Auburn are the only 2 teams in the state..no nfl, mlb, nhl, nba..its a lifestyle..just watch roll tide/war eagle

I didn't say he was delusional, I admit I'm a homer but just don't think that I'm being delusional. Ala/Aub is passionate and I'll admit I've never been and to be honest outside of the Cam Newton game have never watched, just I'm sure you or the rest of the south don't watch or care about OSU/Mich. it's subjective and that's what makes college football what it is.

completely disagree, Mich and OSU are watched by the nation, Bama and Auburn are more regional. hell Georgia and Auburn have more of a rivalry, 115 games compared to 75 for Bama / Auburn. Sure it is in state hate between the two, but thats about where it stops.

"The Battle for The Old Mountain Jug" has been dubbed the best football rivalry you've never heard of by Sports Illustrated. It's been played between Appalachian State and Western Carolina every year since 1932 but didn't pick up the title until the 70's. It's really going to get good in the because in the offseason Western Carolina hired away ASU's top assistant coach for it's head coach and he brought like half of the Appalachian coaching staff with him. Last years game drew 35,000 fans. Not bad for 1-AA.
