Did you grow up in Georgia? Because it's a whole other story then. I've literally had UGA fans come up and ask me, "How are you an Auburn fan? You ain't even from Auburn!" To which I reply, "Well, both of my parents are Auburn grads and so I was raised from birth to be Auburn. Why are you a Georgia fan?" "Because I'm from Georgia, duh!"

This sums up allllllooooooootttttt of their fans I shit you not. The basis for being a Georgia fan is that they are from Georgia....

And? Don't get me wrong my entire family has gone to UGA, and I will be getting my masters from there in the spring. Why can a person not like their hometown team?

You missed my point...... I think it's funny that UGA fans act like it's ludacris for me to like Auburn because I grew up in Georgia even though my parents are both Alumni from Auburn, but it makes complete sense to have your team which you have absolutely no ties to except for geographic location. I don't see how that works. I have no problem with Georgia fans liking Georgia, they can like whoever they want. But most, for some reason, are completely perlexed at the thought of me being an Auburn fan because my parents went there....

This summer I went to my buddy's house and he had some of his dawg friends over I didn't know. I was wearing a CWS championship t-shirt and was basically introduced as a Gamecock fan.

First guy comes up, "So you're from GA but you like South Carolina?"
"Yes. I went to school there."
    "You like them in everything?"
    "Yes."
    "Even football?"
    "Yes."

lol yup... You would think we were supporting North Korea or something like it's totally incomprehensible to like someone other than Georgia...

Sweetheart, I'm just saying there are similarities between USC and Miami in the aggressive course to raise their respective academic profiles. Although decades apart, it isn't unrealistic for them to to have the meteoric rise USC had.

    Another point.

Florida or USC doesn't lose their AD to Nebraska.

Miami isn't far from a mid major type program with you get past Luther honestly.

Might sound like it, but that's not meant as a flame. Presidents at Miami have handcuffed their athletic programs for years. The culture that Howard created down there was unreal and very much a fantasy world. Then Jerry and Dennis fit in very differently, but kept things going until Butch and the NCAA decided to clean things up. Miami is a very small and diverse private school and doesn't get the support most schools get which makes the 25 year run or so even that more amazing, IMO.
