I think you might be misinterpreting what JC said. I was under the impression he was saying there's not much difference between class number five and class number 10 as far as recruiting rankings each year. The difference is just a couple of kids and not a huge gap in talent between the classes. I don't believe he was trying to say that teams that consistently have top-five classes are the same as teams that consistently have top 15 classes.

    I said that FLA's recruiting smashes A&M's.

JC: Don't know about that. UF recruits at a high level, but so does A&M. I think you believe the difference between a top 5-10 class and a top 15-20 class is greater than it is.

    How am I misinterpreting?

I did my research. Since 2002 6 of the 8 teams that have signed the most players hail from one conference, the SEC. Shocking that teams with more players to choose from are better. Like I said when we played Arkansas in the Sugar, they had signed 36 more players in four years than us. If you don't see the advantage there, then you are wilfully ignorant.

I think we can all agree that if one school drafts 107 kids in a 4 year recruiting cycle - ALL schools should be permitted to do the same.

Schools like Alabama, Texas, Ohio State, USC, ND, Florida, and a few others will recruit at the high level, regardless. Allowing them to cycle in a few more "elite" recruits and build even more depth is the issue at hand. And building quality depth is a key to competing for championships.

Since B1G rules prohibit Ohio State from signing more than 25 in a class, IMO something must give. Either amend the B1G rules or implement a FIRM 25 rule in the SEC. Add in 4 year scholarships and we have finally addressed this issue of oversigning where - "30+29+28+32=85"

  • I think all the comments about the smaller teams in the SEC that are just benefiting from the powerhouses and don't do anything is hilarious. Ecspecially because it's mostly coming from northerners and west coast people.
I find it hypocritical that you sit there and say that all the big dawgs do the work and the bottom feeders take credit and reap the rewards.
Where was this attitude during Obamacare?
Yes it goes both ways, bc I would rather my team be successful than the conference. But it's just weird.

That's the product of two great coaches.

I don't see UGA or South Carolina or Arkansas or Auburn (sans buying a great player) doing much in the BCS era.

Saban is a machine and responsible for 5 title teams. Outside of that, it was Urban with two.

Can somebody here come up with a term other than 'butthurt'? The term must come from the 'Complete Idiots Guide to English', based on the quality of the posts that usually contain it.

While Macdaddy uses one of his Lifelines to call somebody in Tuscaloosa for other words meaning 'angry', 'bitter' or disappointed', here are a couple of facts to consider, amid all the delusional southern self-aggrandizing:

    1) Urban Meyer and Ohio State were 12-0 last year and finished #3 in the country. I doubt any Buckeye fans are feeling hurt, in their posteriors or anywhere else. Anger going back 5 or 6 years doesn't last forever in the North, as it has in the South ever since they clung to the wrong side of history and lost the Civil War. The Buckeyes are feeling fine these days and will for years to come. But I'm sure they're grateful for all your thoughts about their butts.

    2) Denying that over-signing exists in the SEC is delusional. And claiming that 'everybody does it' is equally nuts. The BigTen actually has a rule against the practice -- because it's so obviously manipulative of recruits, who assume their scholarships are good for 4 years and a degree, only to discover that they've unwittingly signed on to a year-by-year arrangement. Can't do that in the BigTen. Do the research.

Nothing looks as foolish as an ignorant, out-of-shape, old football fan beating his chest as if HE just won a football game. For all we know, these anonymous tough-guys couldn't hold a football with both hands. But that's the attraction for them here. They can claim any fantasy is a fact; they can shout through their keyboards at those who challenge their fantasies; they can even pretend they used to play football, and hide behind their screennames. But when your self-worth is tied to a college football team, you're making 2 huge mistakes. One: it's about them, not you. You're not on the team, bro. Two: your idols will crash to earth sooner or later, then where will you be? Kinda like being BFF wth OJ.

Enjoy the season and your unseasonally beautiful weather, SEC-heads. The Buckeyes are anything but 'butthurt' and will be delighted to meet you on the gridiron at your earliest convenience. Life is long, Macky. Things change. Be careful what you wish for. Oh yeah, and what's your 40 time?

    seriously?
when has Ohio State ever shown up....palease.... palease let tOSU be undefeated as well as Bama - I can't wait for yet another 42-14 beat down. urbs is going home with another heart attack.

what "yous guys" need to do is just shut the heck up til one of YOUR teams beats an SEC team in the Championship game. then and only then will you or should you be able to say anything.

til then you all are a bunch of losers. 7 in a row. how's your 40 time?

Think you need to research prior to posting. If anyone signs more than 85 it can be referred to as "oversigning". Michigan has signed 94 the last four years and Minnesota 96 so gmafb. Spare everyone the whole "Big Ten doesn't allow it" argument because it's being done. Again, every conference "oversigns", so hit me up when Bama and the rest of the SEC "over-enrolls". Until then keep coming up with tin-foil excuses as to why the Big 10 is subpar in bowl games.

Last time I checked "bro" you're on the same message board I am, so if you don't want to be called out, then don't make accusations about things you have no clue about. If you don't like it "bro", take it up with Saban. No chance of that happening, so keep your childish bitching, moaning, and conspiracy theories on your homeboard if you don't like a genuine football discussion.

To answer your question, I don't do forty times. I am in the military so I can tell you my 2 mile, 4 mile, and 5 mile times.

Do you think if you go all hysterical, you'll win an argument that only one of us is actually engaged in? I don't.

    1. Urban Meyer has never had a heart attack.

    2. He, and his team, would love to have a chance to play against Alabama in an NC game next year or the year after. It would be an honor that would excite a huge fanbase.

    3. We don't say 'yous guys'. We're in Ohio, not New Jersey, y'all.

    4. My 40 time is awful. I'm 64.

    5. Unlike you, I'm okay with folks having opinions different than mine. They're allowed 'to say anything', whether you like it or not, and so am I. I'd rather argue with someone who got his facts straight and wasn't having a hyssie-fit at his keyboard, but you'll do.

    6. Since you believe we're a bunch of losers [which is ridiculous, since none of us are actual, you know, Notre Dame players] then you must believe everyone who lives in Alabama is a winner, right? Is that your position? 'Cause if it is, I'd like you to start that thread. I have some thoughts.

Say hey to Coach Saban down at the Git 'N Go. He played college ball in Ohio. Learned the game and how to coach it there. The State of Ohio gave Nick his first head coaching job at the University of Toledo. He's welcome in the Buckeye state any time.

What's your 40 time, Viper? With a name like that you must be fast as lightning.
