    Wish I could. Would've been a legit football discussion, until the excuses start pouring out from a certain fanbase.

    According to 247

    28 in 2009 27 in 2010 25 in 2011 26 in 2012. Total of 106

    *rival had one more signee

    dude please do yourself a favor & quit "counting" NSD L.O.L numbers as a running total of "signed scholarships" each year.

    knock on dVd's door & tell him someone said .... crackwhip

    07 and 08 Kerry Murphy was listed twice (naturally he only "signed" only once).
    and from 08-current you can add these names .Darius McKeller,Brandon Lewis,Anthony Orr,Deion Belue,Quin Dial, Brandon Hill.

    then there is Jamar Taylor (tranf before he ever enrolled),Melvin Ray & Dez Hood (opted for MLB),Devonta Bolton(never enrolled),Alfy Hill (juco).... that's 12 coffee

    a few "PROCESSED" players...
    Cory Smith (starter at WVU),Darrington Sentimore(led Vols in sacks opting for NFL as a Jr),Mike Marrow(Nebraska FB),Brandon Moore(Texas 2-deep*),5*QB Phillip Sims(couldnt beat out AJ),Zo Lawrence(stud but dumped via team rules/invited to NFL camp in 11').

    a few med-hardships and a vast # of NFL early entries.

    Must admit, I wasn't too high on his playcalling as well. Way too much talent to continously under-achieve in Tally.

    Edit: Curious to see how Pruitt does taking over the defense.

    excuses ? i would call the 12 that i gave you off the cuff from your "mythical 106", fact.
    NSD L.O.I. #'s are as an irelevanttool to actual signing class counts nearly as much as USC being named #1 in last years preseason poll.

    look up 25/85 rule its as basic as 5th grade math. read it, learn it, step into reality.

    Your numbers are wrong.

    Bama only signed 23 in '11 and 26 in '10.

    Leave it to a laggard minded confederate to say "only 23 scholarships". That is a huge size for a class. I think that might be close to the most Ohio STate has ever brought in. Look at it this way. my team gets only 7 draft picks but yours gets 10. Also, I forgot to mention the Bayer braynt scholarship. I remember the big smoldering turd a few years ago that was going 3-9. How is Landon Collins girlfriend's job working out? Funny the loop holes this coach is closing. He must have a legal team finding dirty tactics that helps his product on the field. Look at the wins and championships per confernce and look how success and oversigning go hand in hand.

    using the urban legand oversigning formula...
    09=25
    10=19
    11=24
    12=25
    13=21 (if you're done ?)

    so by the urban O/S legand formula if NONE of the 09ers return in 2013 ?you're(89) "over" the 85. how many redshirted that year ? if lets say ten redshirted then you're over by 14.
    you guys are cheating.

    see how ridiculous that sounds ?

    NSD L.O.I's do not = signed scholarship #'s.

    I agree with you and that's not what I meant and you are making crap up in your head RE: Clay Travis. Who do you think can build a better roster to win one or two games against an elite SEC program and get a championship for Ohio State? Your former coach (no) or your current coach? Who do you think understands how to win against those types of teams? Your former coach (no) or your current coach? Who do you think understands the importance of recruiting the Southeast heavily and who has the street cred because of his experience in the SEC to go pluck recruits from those programs? Your former coach (no) or your current coach?

    And your former coach was a damn good coach.

    Thats one of the best I have ever read honest , truthful and real!

  • Okay, Macky. Make this a good football thread again.

    Tell us about over-signing in the SEC and how it provides NO competitive advantage to sign 5 classes of recruits every 4 years. Texas A&M today sits with 54 commits! Fifty-four, Macky. Know of anyone in the BigTen who could get away with that? Me either, because it's not allowed by BigTen conference rules.

    Don't take my word for it. Do the research yourself at www.oversigning.com. The Tulane Law School did a thorough study of SEC oversigning and it's all there for you in black and white -- from a respected southern law school.

    The SEC: Where 30 + 29 + 28 + 32 = 85. This is illegal in the BigTen but standard operating procedure in the SEC.

    Macky, you think of yourself as something of a football expert. Please explain away oversigning for us. Tell us why a one-year scholarship commitment is better than the promise of a four year degreee which most recruits and their families assume they're getting but aren't.

    I'm ready whenever you are, MacDaddy.

    Make this a football thread, yet all you talk about is oversigning Staggy. Again, hit me up when the SEC OVER-ENROLLS. Until then, enjoy crunching numbers on spreadsheets with this idiotic website that has no idea what they are talking about.

    It doesn't take an expert to realize, counting LOIs is an absolutely stupid way for gathering information relating to actual bodies in jersey's and towards 85.

    As Ghost pointed out above, signed LOI's do not equal signed scholarships. Ohio St. fans can complain and make excuses, but the SEC is operating within NCAA Bylaws.

    When the SEC over-enrolls, you will have a story. Continue to sprew garbage with false accusations, even when schools in your own conference, including yours, sign more than the alloted 85 every four years.

    Can somebody here come up with a term other than 'butthurt'? The term must come from the 'Complete Idiots Guide to English', based on the quality of the posts that usually contain it.

    While Macdaddy uses one of his Lifelines to call somebody in Tuscaloosa for other words meaning 'angry', 'bitter' or disappointed', here are a couple of facts to consider, amid all the delusional southern self-aggrandizing:

    1) Urban Meyer and Ohio State were 12-0 last year and finished #3 in the country. I doubt any Buckeye fans are feeling hurt, in their posteriors or anywhere else. Anger going back 5 or 6 years doesn't last forever in the North, as it has in the South ever since they clung to the wrong side of history and lost the Civil War. The Buckeyes are feeling fine these days and will for years to come. But I'm sure they're grateful for all your thoughts about their butts.

    2) Denying that over-signing exists in the SEC is delusional. And claiming that 'everybody does it' is equally nuts. The BigTen actually has a rule against the practice -- because it's so obviously manipulative of recruits, who assume their scholarships are good for 4 years and a degree, only to discover that they've unwittingly signed on to a year-by-year arrangement. Can't do that in the BigTen. Do the research.

    Nothing looks as foolish as an ignorant, out-of-shape, old football fan beating his chest as if HE just won a football game. For all we know, these anonymous tough-guys couldn't hold a football with both hands. But that's the attraction for them here. They can claim any fantasy is a fact; they can shout through their keyboards at those who challenge their fantasies; they can even pretend they used to play football, and hide behind their screennames. But when your self-worth is tied to a college football team, you're making 2 huge mistakes. One: it's about them, not you. You're not on the team, bro. Two: your idols will crash to earth sooner or later, then where will you be? Kinda like being BFF wth OJ.

    Enjoy the season and your unseasonally beautiful weather, SEC-heads. The Buckeyes are anything but 'butthurt' and will be delighted to meet you on the gridiron at your earliest convenience. Life is long, Macky. Things change. Be careful what you wish for. Oh yeah, and what's your 40 time?

    WTF is this trash, dude who gives a shI@ what my 40 time is? This is a football discussion your a 60 year old loser who prob still lives in his mom's basement, if you don't like it get the eff out...

    The 40-time thing was a joke, dumbass. So many guys here strut around like cock-daddy-beau, posing as tough-guys, as if they're players themselves. As if they whipped Notre Dame personally. It's WE did this and WE did that. YOU did nothing but turn on the TV. That's the full extent of YOUR participation. Most of you've never played high school ball, much less Division 1. It's laughable, so I decided to ask for 40 times, just to check bona fides.

    Couple of points. I've never accused the SEC of breaking NCAA rules or not being great at football. Oversigning is allowed by the NCAA. But it's not in the BigTen and that's a competitive disadvantage. What the practice does is force SEC coaches to kick other players off scholarship to make room. That's gotta hurt some of these kids, don't you think? That's why the BigTen has disallowed it for years and recently moved to a mandatory 4-year scholarship system for its member schools.

    I think SEC foottball is excellent. There's no dounbt about it. But there are logical reasons for it, if you're able to follow a logical argument. There are more excellent players in the southeast these days -- due to population shift and climate mainly, which allows for Spring football and year-round play. No Spring ball in Ohio and no year-round play, obviously.

    Urban Meyer was asked about this today and told the press that there are more great players down south. Not better players than in the midwest, just more of them. That's why he recruits the South in addition to the Midwest and the rest of the country. Urban has also said previously that in his experience the Midwest players, on average, are better coached and better prepared for college ball. In the South, many great athletes get mediocre coaching, so it takes more effort to coach them up once the arrive on campus. So y'all have more good players, but not necessarilly better players.

    How about coaching? Your National Championship winning coaches -- the guys you SEC-heads evidently idolize for their high football IQs -- are Les Miles, Nick Saban and, at one time but no longer, Urban Meyer. Miles learned football growing up in Elyria, Ohio and playing at Michigan. Nick Saban grew up 'across the river' in West Virginia, but played at Kent State and first coached at Toledo. You know about Urban, I guess. If you look at their 'Coaching Trees' you'll see a ridiculous number of other well-known coaches who've worked under these three guys. So Ohio football philosophy and theory literally permeates the SEC. Hate me if you want to, but don't hate your Buckeye-bred coaches.

    SEC football is the best in the NCAA. See, smoothie, I'm not attacking you. You don't need to get so hysterically defensive. But there are obviously logical reasons why the SEC enjoys such success. All I'm doing here is explaining why I believe y'all have done so well. That shouldn't threaten anybody's manhood, should it? Not accusing you of breaking rules, not denying your football is terrific. Just trying to remind the chest-pounders that they personally have nothing whatever to do with it. Not even you, Macdaddy.
