Who has the talent to stop the SEC?

    You didn't answer the question.

The question? To me? The players are getting bumped for better, younger players and the team is using a loophole to keep them on scholarship? shrug

    Sorry.

Missed the obvious sarcasm the first time around.

Isn't it an advantage to be able to take more shots on academically borderline kids? Why does a kid need to be " steered"' to JUCO?

Also JC, have you seen the B1G's specific rules that pertain to oversigning?

I've never once ever heard of a college program "steering" a kid to JUCO if said player had the grades to make it.

There have been late qualifiers that have had to go to prep school anyway, but those kids usually come in mid year after the next football season.

Show me where that's happening at the pace of 7-10 a year.

Majority of the transfers are "encouraged" transfers....aka forced attrition.

Wrong, not one Saban player has been asked to transfer. If you think so, provide link.

That isn't an answer. That's fluff.

Why did Bama literally have twelve times more medical hardships than any other school in the SEC during Saban's first 3 years or so?

If even half of them were not injured, then it's shady. But show me where that is the case. This is what I am talking about. Weak arguments.

So is it documented that they got cut? All seven of them? Of the three on medical, which ones weren't really hurt. I remember one saying that.

Its insane that people believe the $EC west does not oversign! They sign more players than any other CFB teams every year. I guess your detractors are saying its a coincidence? Seems pretty crazy..

Isn't one too many? Are we just assuming he was the only one? Like Mississippi State was the only team that Cam's dad wanted money from.

Leaving after NSD? You do realize players that sign on NSD don't enroll until the summer, right?

Brandon Moore plays at Texas now. Alfy Hill had grade issues and is now committed to South Carolina. Neither were cut. Goode is an RB and went for playing time elsewhere. Same with Grant. Sentimore played at Tennessee this year. Counting Belue shows how incredibly asinine this entire thing is- HE STARTED LAST NIGHT'S GAME!

Star Jackson was the back-up QB those guys transfer all the time. Harbin wanted to play another sport.

Again there's no accounting for individual situations from you guys.

You've yet to make one intelligent point.

Disagree. Honestly I don't care about over signing. Or the obvious use of gray shirting or medical hardships to circumvent limits. I just think it's hilarious that you would suggest that it's a myth or that questioning it amounts to fear and ignorance.

    My points:

Recruiting services overrate SEC area talent, to a smaller extent Texas talent and vastly underrate CA and Ohio talent. This is borne out, very clearly, by the NFL rosters. I believe this goes part and parcel with overrating SEC teams not named Alabama.

Alabama is on an entirely different level than GA, A&M and FLA. So, who has the talent to beat the SEC? Many teams. Again, provided we exclude Alabama.

    brem22

  • I know a recruit that commited to a B1G team and when he was visiting Alabama he was told "we have to play with the numbers" so we don't know if we will have a spot as "we need to play with the numbers."

    mfldhuskers

  • It's hilarious that SEC lovers are all of a sudden on the A&M tittay, 12 months ago they were just some team that couldn't finish in the middle of the dominant, stacked conference. Now they are better than the Internet or the steam engine.

Urban was born and raised in Toledo. Yes Satan is a great coach. Urban has beaten him before though.

Urban beat Saban, in Sabans second year. In year 3, still building Bama by the way, Saban sent Meyer to the hospital. Meyer never came close to Saban again. The fact that UF and Bama were so close in Sabans second year says alot too.

Saban sent Meyer into retirement where he now enjoys coaching at the college football equivalent of the Senior PGA. We broke him, he could not handle the pressure so he went where it is much MUCH less. The big 10 has always been 2 teams. As of 2010, 5 of 12 SEC teams won BCS national titles.

Its funny how the big 10 has fallen off the face of the college football universe now, in the BCS era, when you have to play at least ONE good team on the field.

The talking heads said Florida would blowout Louisville and it would look even worse than the score. Remind me who won the game again.

Georgia was one play away from playing for the national title and were losing to a B1G team at halftime. And were taken to the 4th quarter. I thought that defense was loaded with NFL talent? lol.

    Northwestern beat an SEC team.

    LSU lost to Clemson.

Texas A&M and a solid athlete at QB. One of the top teams. But no guarantee they would beat Oregon or Stanford.

I will give credit for Alabama for being elite but that is it.

On top of what JC stated:

Keiwone Malone was suspended then transferred. Got in trouble several times off the field. Unlike Urban, Saban doesn't want that type of character around his program.

Robby Green kept smoking the left-handed cigarette and couldn't lay off, so Saban sent his ass packing. Hell he was our starting FS and got suspended by the NCAA for the entire 2010 season.

Terry Grant and Travis Sikes graduated and decided not to come back for their 5th year of eligibility.

Carswell and Bowman were suspended in Dec 2011 and decided to transfer.

Saban doesn't have a circle of trust.
