    I don't get it. Really, I don't. Slavery was over a long time ago. Everything is so PC these days and it doesn't sit well with me. My black friends and I talk about this all the time. It's bullcensored IMO

    Forgive and forget, playa. It's something that I talk with all my boys about all the time, and our friends don't have any beef because of slavery. I guess we just take the approach that slavery existed, but none of us were apart of it and our friends weren't either. No reason to hold a grudge because of poor decisions made in a distant past.

    I'm on the fence on this one. Yes I agree that black history should not be dedicated to just one month. In schools, they teach history classes of the world, mostly North America. I'm not quite sure how much time we should devote to teaching other nations. A brief history lesson on all continents is important. I don't remember not learning about black history the 11 months of the year. There was just a point to make 1 month a year about black history. I think it's important to realize where we come from and the history of our country (all races). I don't know if putting a special emphasis on how racist our forefathers were 12 months a year would be a good thing.

    i think that the history of the oppressed peoples of the united states should be taught... smallpox blankets, slavery, jim crow, and the struggles...

    i think it is important to teach this because of the obvious reasons, but also for the healthy mistrust one should have of the government.

    it is also important to destroy the illusion of benevolent rulers...
