Why can threads about white people

I'm not complaining about racist remarks towards either race and couldn't give a shit what people say. I hate when people say that slavery happened a long time ago so just forget about it. That's bullshit. Same with what happened to your ancestors. Should we just pretend like it never happened? And I'm not saying that blacks should use slavery as an excuse, but you just can't tell them to forget about it

no one is asking us to forget about slavery. Just don't use it as a crutch to hate the younger white generation. I have had more black friends than I have had white friends. We openly discuss race all the time. It always trips me out when they say "white boys" and tons of racial comments but get so upset over people they don't know saying even the slightest racial remark.

I'm with you. I would've liked to learn more about Nat Turner than say a Robert E. Lee when I was in school.

Robert E. Lee was actually anti-slavery and was against the Confederacy's ideals (IIRC). The only reason he served for the Confederacy is that he was loyal to his home state (Virginia) over anything else. I guess that should never get mentioned and Robert E. Lee should be labeled a racist who fought for the Confederacy. Most of the southern diehards don't even acknowledge that fact and defame his name with their stars and bars BS.

While we are at it, John Brown did more for the pre-Civil War slavery movement than many of the other civil rights people, but--considering he was white--most history books don't find him as 'sexy' of a story than a black slave who fought against their slavery. In fact, there were several white people who fought against slavery as an injustice, but--again--it's not as sensational a story as a black slave who fought against his oppression.

It's always funny how people argue over history and they only have their own slanted view from which to judge history.

Why not throw the native americans into the mix then. Why do you bitch about the mascots of sports teams when the natives are the only people allowed to have casino's across the country and are making trillions of dollars in places other folks can't? Does the Washington Redskins or Cleveland Indians logo really hurt your feelings that much?

Well, I guess your assumption is correct: one group of people has to represent the whole. As such, I should poll all Native Americans to get their opinions on your post, but I will not go with your assumption.

Instead, I can tell you that Cherokee-Lumbee Indians do not own casinos and have voted numerous times against ever allowing a casino. You can look up U.S. Congress H.R. 4656 (The Lumbee Act) if you would like verification. The Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians even opposes our tribe because we would "cut" their financial aid and hurt their casinos. I guess you should address your casino concerns to them.

To me, mascots that are displayed in a positive light and with tribal approval are not of issue. I know the Seminole Tribe of Florida approves and works very closely with the BofTrustees at FSU. These types of arrangements are needed to avoid any issues. Other mascots seem defamatory, but that's just my opinion. The tribe depicted for those mascots should be addressed individually, as I cannot speak for them, as they do not speak for me.

  • Black people in general seem to be more sensitive. You have to really walk on egg shells and watch what you say around black people. That's the main reason white people just try to stay away from them for the most part. Not that we don't like black people or don't want to be around them. But because having to watch what you say constantly gets old. You never know when they will accuse you of being a racist. IMO.

Sorry I could not answer your question in a less serious tone. I will try, though:

We smilin' Indians, per Cleveland mascot, love us some booze and casinos. We just hope all you whiteys and blackeys keep coming and spending your gov't checks at our casinos. In the meantime, we will keep our base tans, tax free money and free land way from you crazy european and african folks. I think all races/ethnicities of people should have a mascot that represents them:

    ATL Crackers
    Birmingham Blackeys
    San Francisco Slant Eyes
    New York Mulattos
    Texas Mexicans
    Seattle Eskimos
    Miami Cubans
    Michigan Middle Easterners.............

Black America being sensitive does not keep me from wanting to be around them. I love black people (as much as I can love human beings-i hate most of the human race). I just hate the media and everyone associated with keeping things so PC when it comes to younger generation race talk.

My guess is that the majority of posters on this board are white people. When a majority makes fun of the majority its "normal". When a majority makes fun of a minority it turns nasty quickly.

Also, many people on here are SEC fans, and SEC fans are naturally stupid ignorant racists.

So deleting posts about minorities is just a good way to avoid an SEC/Racist circle jerk.

Then again every other thread on here is a SEC circle jerk so maybe by hypothesis is flawed.

I'll take the blame for this
