Why do people put in a M in front of NC?

  • While that is true it is the fact that it isn't voted on but rather played on the field ...not many Cinderella win in basketball but it is the chance that makes it different and the best team doesn't always win...
    Also I would bet that if Bama didn't get in to the title game this past year you would be a play off advocate

    Nope. Can't stand playoffs. It would have helped my team in 2008,2010,2011,too.

    In a playoff of only conference champions, how would it have helped in any of those years?

    And of course you hate playoffs.....if any team has benefited from this system, its Alabama. I would not expect you to want more, better games, when you can get a voted on shiny trophy.

    Conference champions? Why? The loser of the SECCG in 2008,2009 were better than any other team in the country. They should not be left out of the playoffs because of the conference they are in.

    Same play off structure are all other sports. At large or wild cards... and yes the SEC would probably get 2-4 in based on that....

    So exactly why are you against a playoff, if it means that it benefits Alabama. (Which I dont think it does, but you seem to think otherwise) benefits the SEC, (In some sort of 42 team playoff you seem to have created.) and has zero impact on who wins the national title?

    It would mean more college football games being played by the top teams against each other. If it has no other negative effect on Alabama, why are you arguing against more good games for fans? According to you, in every way its good for your team.........so why hate playoffs?

    This hoary myth has lost its effectiveness the last few years, as more and more teams make their OOC schedules easier and easier......plus having an Alabama fan come up with this ridiculous "Regular season means something" argument, after we find out the EXACT opposite last season, is laughable.

    So now the regular season means something when a team that cant win either its conference or even their division in their conference can win a BCS title? Where do you get that from?

    Wait what.... there is more excitement in play offs than the regular season... with no play offs the regular season for CFB has the same feel as the play offs in other sports.... also the regular season would still have meaning... still have to win your conference or be good enough to get a at large or wild card bid... so you still got to put in work during the regular season...

    It is now huh..... I for one have been wanting a play off since I started watching as a kid 25 years ago... but that was cause my grandfather was for a play off
    .. so I was raised on that theory

    We would probably do even better if there was a playoff. I don't think you've seen how well Saban prepares for the postseason.

    Minus the Utah game of course..... given that much time he is nearly impossible to beat... it showed this past year as he came in with a different game plan then the previous game unlike Les...

    You dont seem to grasp the concept that if a large percentage of teams in college football have a ZERO percent chance of ever winning a national championship, no matter their success on the field, if there is a playoff, that increases that equatablity factor in an infinate amount.

    You may be of the opinion that if there was a playoff or not, the exact same teams would have won the national title the last 70 odd years, but I am not buying that.

    Exactly. Like Oregon never had a shot of winning a national title and they still don't.

    i agree with you.

    saying conference champions only can make a playoff is DUMB.

    UF 2009 was the 2nd best team in the country, Bama was 1st.

    LSU 2011 was 2nd best team in the country, Bama was 1st.

    A playoff will only work if it uses say top 8 in BCS (regardless of conference affiliation) or conference champs plus at large bids (similar to wild card teams).

    This also doesn't work well because some schools aren't even in conferences (ND) and if you start only CC to playoffs, why not just move your team to the worst conference and always get in the playoffs (Bama move from SEC to Big East or to ACC, Bama would practically always be in the playoffs)

    Not so much in 2008,but definitely in 2009 and more so in 2011.

    12-1 Alabama was more deserving of a playoff spot than Big East Champ Cincy or ACC Champ VT.
