Why do some fans cry if their team isn't ranked #1

can't run the ball when your down by more than 1 TD and playing catch up .just saying if your not balanced it will catch up to ya.peace

Well we beat Oregon with under 100 yards passing and almost 200 yards rushing.. Put up more points on them and gave up less than USC did... We don't abandon the run game because we are down.

Not trying to fight with you guys.. Just telling it how it is with our team

Well.. one or 2 injuries on our line really wouldn't hurt us.. The back ups have 20 + games experience a piece.. Injury held one back and the other got beat out by La'elle Collins.. Convenient to leave out the rushing stats though, since sacks don't matter to you.. How about compared rushing stats

You have more rushing yards than us, but OL creates passing yardage too and compared to USC your team's total was borderline impotent. Nevermind that LSU played two more games than USC.

    Rushing:
    LSU: 2836
    USC: 1951

    Passing:
    USC:3530
    LSU: 2135

    Total YPG:
    USC: 456.8 YPG
    LSU: 355.1 YPG

Like I said.. We won't agree so there's no use in arguing over it.. Both are great teams.. We pound the ball better and you guys pass better. Going to be a fun year.

We would have more but our special teams are so good that we had a short field every game.. Most of our drives started on the other side of the 50 yd line... Not to mention all the turnovers our D caused to give us short fields.

Not looking to fight either, but you bring up an interesting point.

How far down does LSU have to be to shift into a mostly pass mode ?

Outside of the 2nd half of the NC game, I don't think LSU was ever put into a position where they were forced to pass last year.

All the games I saw (except the NC) had LSU with a lead pounding away with the run in the 2nd half.

If it was USC-LSU in a NC this year, I would think that would be SC's best chance to win- get a big enough lead to force LSU into more of a passing team. Because they do wear teams out with their running attack.

Not to jump in as a third party but yes that is correct.

Reason why I can say that is because Alabama and LSU play similar styles of grind it out while still throwing small underneath/mid passes to keep the defense honest.

Then come third/fourth quarter your D is worn out and we just gain big yards on the ground.

Getting a big early lead forces us to become one dimensional and even though we favor the run game we never want to just use the run game.

Spread us out and throw it around usually gives you the best chance to beat us because your not going to out power us and it's extremely hard to run on us

I doubt we lean on McCarron in the Michigan game. They have an inexperienced DL v our O Line who returns 4.5 starters.

I say 4.5 because Cyrus is a monster and is gonna do work.

Expect us to jam it down their throat but we will probably aim to keep it a 50-50 balance

The first series we will come out in spread sets and throw....just because they will be concerned about stopping the run.

Once they back off the line we run

Smart third party info always welcome, as I agree, this idea applies to both LSU and Bama. Very similar philosophies and styles of play.

The real trick is getting a sizeable early lead against the Bama or LSU defense. Easier said than done.

USC's offense vs Bama or LSU's D would definitely be an epic matchup.

And I think USC's D, Bama's O and LSU's O (if Mett is for real) will all be underrated.

Would be great battles on both sides of the ball all game if it's USC vs either Bama or LSU in Miami. I hope we see it.

That may seem like the case, but teams that have beat us have thrown less than 22 times (besides the magic of Stephen Garcia in 2010)

LSU NC game - 17 (even though they lost and were behind the entire time)
    LSU 2011 - 17
    LSU 2010 - 20
    AU 2010 - 20
    FL 2008 - 22

even AU and UL-Monroe threw 22 times in 07

To beat Alabama you have to establish a run game, because spreading us only changes our Defensive front to become more aggressive in rushing the passer, blitz, and etc.

No db's could cover both Woods and Lee man to man for a whole game unless the refs put blinders on. Ask ucla.

Too big, too fast, too physical.

They would have to keep at least one safety back just to cover them and then the TEs chew you up if your lb's are sucked up for the run.

    Looks like another perfect day.

While they have thrown a smaller amount, they still spread us out.

I'm not going to include 07 because none were really Saban players but

    08
    UF
    Utah

    Spread offenses

    10
USC still spread us out even with Garcias game of his life
    Auburn-spread offense.

The only team that matches up with us physically is LSU.
