Why is Florida ranked so low?

  • If the SEC is the toughest conference (which according to the polls and the Bcs standings with 6 of the top 9 from the SEC - it is) and Florida has the best resume in games played within that group of the top 6 SEC teams, (3-1compared to 1-1 each by UGA & Bama) then why is Florida ranked behind those 2 teams?

Doesn't UF deserve to be the highest ranked 1 loss SEC team right now based on actual on field results?

SEC folks - what you say?

  • It depends on where you're ranked coming into the season and it depends on how you look when you play. Eye test matters when it comes to human voters.

  • I'm sure this thread will go down in flames but I'm not sure many UF fans will argue they should be any higher then they are. No elite teams out of Florida again this year.

  • I'm waiting for the wall o' stats saying they should be ranked higher/lower/right where they are.

Preseason polls. No, they don't count but it is pretty much what everybody goes by.

They lost to UL-Lafayette at home and are still ranked 6th... Not sure what the problem is. shrug

Well, they almost lost to La-Lafayette but they still won, even if it was ugly.

#6 is good but if I was a UF fan and UF won out, but the winner of the UGA/ Bama got to play in the title game, I would be somewhat pissed considering UF's SOS is far superior to those teams.

Not trying to flame Bama or UGA, just giving the Gators some credit.

All you need to look at is the games the top 6 SEC have played against each other

    UF 3-1
    LSU 2-2
    Alabama 1-1
    Georgia 1-1
    A&M 1-2
    SCar 1-2

Usually I would agree that head to head would trump all but since everybody in that group of 6 beat everybody else, I think the next thing to look at would be quality wins vs top 10-15 teams.

If it came down to just UGA or UF then I could see giving Georgia the nod despite the easier schedule.

Thanks for the love but we have far too many problems offensively to be ranked any higher. We may not have our QB back until the bowl game and our offensive line has become a rotating door. There's no excuse to beat ULL in the last 3 seconds. Realistically, 6 is a perfect spot for us. We are good enough to play and beat anybody, but there are teams that can say the same thing AND pass the eye test and those teams are in front of us.

Interesting. I'd say the UF fans that post on tBB are the least homerish in the SEC.

QB problems or not I think FSUe will probably beat UF, so it might be a non issue, but Muschamp deserves credit for navigating such a difficult schedule.

Although, if UF beats FSUe and the 3 unbeatens lose it will be UF vs the Bama/Georgia winner in Miami for the BCS MNC.

You should we're dealing with it now. Unranked to start the year, while Oregon and KSU were ranked. Always much harder for unranked team to jump over team ranked to start the season.

  • Only way I'd truly be pissed is if we beat the Noles, finish 11-1 and aren't invited to a BCS Bowl. As of right now, I'm ok with our ranking. We had our chance and squandered it.

Yea, but we lost to UGA so they deserve to be ahead of us. And Bama is Bama, #6 is good to me. We still have to beat FSU, so im not worried about our ranking right now

Personally I'm hoping for 10 years of stats showing that Arizona State having better results then Ole Miss in OOC play, proving definitively that PAC > SEC.

Ya bro, was just about to run those numbers for you,
but then I remembered that Ole Miss has never had the balls
to schedule a Pac 10/12 team in their entire history.

Man, they must be scarrred, what a bunch of box.
You & Ole Miss have the same issue, except your Vaginitis
is caused by a post-traumatic fear of getting swept, shutout,
embarrassed, and demolished in your own crib, in a re-Pete
of when Big Balls and the dominating Trojan D raped your team in '03.

Come on man, I'm rooting for your Noles with the FSUe / FSUw thing. The e is for eventually,
because eventually Florida State's baseball team will win a College World Series like Fresno State did,
and then the Seminoles can be considered in the same league as FSUw = winners.

ND not being ranked, and Oregon and KState being ranked
have nothing to do with what ND is dealing with now...

but unimpressive 3 point home wins over both BYU & Purdue, a triple OT escape against Pitt,
and a referee gifted win over Stanford have everything to do with what ND is dealing with now.

Probably has something to do with having one of the worst offenses in college football.

    Just a guess though.
