Why is Florida ranked so low?

  • eh, our O kinda sucks and were beat up, we played some crazy good, fast, hard hitting defenses consecutively. Tell you what though we could very well have the best overall Dfense in the country and our special teams has got to be up there with the best in the country (except punt returns now since were now down to our 3rd string guy). I think we are # 6 because there isnt anywhere else to rank us. theres only 2 teams with a lose ahead of us and we lost to one of them and the other is pre-season #1 Bama (though we did beat the teams that beat both of those teams). We also looked like garbage Vs a couple less then stellar teams.

    Thats not to say that i don't think we could beat the teams ahead of us (if our O-line and Qb could get healthy). I personally would favor us over 3 out of the 5 teams and say that us vs Bama would be a very close game. I also think we have the best D in the country to slow Oregon down a ton. But our problem is we would still need to score 30-35 PTS and unless we get at least 1 defensive/special teams TD and good feild position off TO, im not sure i see it happening. Unless our run game can be as good as it was Vs LSU.

    Well, they almost lost to La-Lafayette but they still won, even if it was ugly.

    #6 is good but if I was a UF fan and UF won out, but the winner of the UGA/ Bama got to play in the title game, I would be somewhat pissed considering UF's SOS is far superior to those teams.

    Not trying to flame Bama or UGA, just giving the Gators some credit.

    Alabama SOS 14
    Florida. 7

    According to Saragin. That's not far superior

    the NCAA itself lists us at numero uno. Can't agree with Sagarin on this one. From top to bottom nobody has played a tougher schedule.

    You should we're dealing with it now. Unranked to start the year, while Oregon and KSU were ranked. Always much harder for unranked team to jump over team ranked to start the season.

    Why the fvck would that matter when you have a whole body of work to look at?

    Alabama most likely will play Georgia in the SEC CCG, and Florida still has to play at Florida St.
    So adding in those games and looking at each team's opponents side by side, this is how I see it.

    The top 3 games are even as both will have played Georgia, Texas A&M, and LSU
    at a neutral site, at home, and away.
    The bottom 7/8 games are a wash, not much difference there at all.
    The middle 2 games (or the 4th & 5th opponents listed) is what makes Florida's schedule much tougher.

    Florida plays 2 more Top 10 teams, or at least they are Top 15 teams, including 1 on the road- Florida St.
    Alabama played 2 fringe Top 25 teams, Michigan at a neutral site and Miss St at home, and I think calling
    Miss State a fringe top 25 team is being polite.

    IMO that is a far superior SOS when your talking about 1 team
    (Bama) playing 3 Top 10 type opponents and another team
    (Florida) playing 5 Top 10 type opponents.

    Also, Florida plays 2 of those games on the road,
    compared to only 1 on the road for Alabama.

    Alabama-------------Florida
    ======================
    Georgia________ Georgia
    @LSU__________LSU
    Texas A&M______@Texas A&M

    Michigan________@Florida St
    Miss State_______South Carolina

    Ole Miss________@Vanderbilt
    @Missouri_______Missouri
    @Tennessee____ @Tennessee
    @Arkansas______Kentucky
    Auburn_________ Bowling Green
    W.Kentucky______La-Lafayette
    W.Carolina______ Jacksonville St
    Florida Atlantic___ 12 games only
    ===========================

    Really -- #14 SOS for Alabama?
    That's interesting. huh

    If the SEC is the toughest conference (which according to the polls and the Bcs standings with 6 of the top 9 from the SEC - it is) and Florida has the best resume in games played within that group of the top 6 SEC teams, (3-1compared to 1-1 each by UGA & Bama) then why is Florida ranked behind those 2 teams?

    Doesn't UF deserve to be the highest ranked 1 loss SEC team right now based on actual on field results?

    SEC folks - what you say?

    Well.. those are good points, when the season began no one thought Texas AnM was very good, but uhm they are
    We won that game on the road
    LSU was at home
    USCe was at home
    UGA was a nuetral site.

    Unfortunately, we have won ugly all year. EVERY game we have played has been close except Kentucky and USCe
    People like to see offense, and we don't have one. No one ni the media thinks we are very good either. That's why we are only ranked #6

    Only way I'd truly be pissed is if we beat the Noles, finish 11-1 and aren't invited to a BCS Bowl. As of right now, I'm ok with our ranking. We had our chance and squandered it.

    This is what is sad truthfully.
    There is talk that even if we beat FSU we won't go to a BCS game...

    Even if we loose to FSU, we will have played the most top 10 teams (2x more than anyone) and finished with a winning record (which I think is deserving of a BCS game no matter what) but because of the timing of the losses, we would be out

    And some polls don't even have us projected to play in a New Year's Day bowl, what a scam that would be

    That would be bullshit I agree, there is so many things wrong with college football I have basically given up on it

    Watching Noles go crazy over the computers this year is rich and just shows why the system blows in the first place.... at the end of the day there are just too many morons pulling the strings

  • UF is just where it needs to be. I would be cool with any spot in the 6- 10 range.

    If aTm wins out, Bama wins out, and 2 of the undefeated teams, UF probably gets left out of the BCS bowls.
