I don't really want to jump into the pissing competition too much, but wanted to throw an interesting tidbit of info.
The reason the Florida schools took off in the 80s and 90s is due to population growth. The rest of the South has experienced that same boom over the last 25 years and it has resulted in these large recruiting bases. Football is the sport to play in high school in these with little competition at the same level outside of basketball in some areas.
No area of the country as seen a population on a whole like the Southeast and Texas in the last 25 years and some area are seeing a decrease.

I don't care who you play. All I know is I pay a small fortune every year for season tickets and a required seat license and additional donations. And I drive from Chicago to Ann Arbor for every game. I'm not doing that so I can watch Michigan beat up on EMU and Ball State and UMass. Give me some Alabama and Texas and, yes, Notre Dame. I want to see some football.
