Why would the ACC negotiate a lower buyout with Maryland?

I don't see any reason why the ACC would hurt its brand image. Am I missing an aspect?

The ACC will take what we tell them to take and they will say "thank you" in a very pleasant tone. They are the new Big East. They are lucky we let them play in any reindeer games at all.

I agree as a fan but money is driving this deal. I also do not see the 50 million actually holding up. I thought Maryland was struggling with money. They would not be leaving if they thought they had to come up with 50 million. I know absolutely nothing though.

i wouldnt negotiate with those guys either. if they want out they have to pay the 50mil. i guarantee if FSU wanted out wed have to pay the 50mil and they wouldnt negotiate with us
im still not sure why the Big ten would want maryland and rutgers. they dont really fit the profile of Big ten programs. its just a weird fit
