  • That would be a mistake IMO. He will never coach with the top elite guys of the SEC each year. He's an 8-9 win type coach and it will take 2-3 more years after he gets fired to change systems. As a Bama fan I want it to happen, but as a college football fan I would wonder WTF.

  • It would be a good hire but he would need to hire a different DC that would constantly rip his players a new butt hole. I have no problems with a player coach as long as the coach hires some people on his staff that are not player friendly coaches.

  • Chip Kelly isn't going to get him a crystal ball either. Every single NFL insider that I hear from says that Kelly leaving for the NFL after this year is all but a foregone conclusion.

    As far as Malzahn goes, I'm with Weedline. I'm not saying that he would be a shitty hire, and as a Bama fan would love to see it happen, but AU will spend the money to get a more high profile head coach. At least I would think that they could make a legitimate run at Peterson or Patterson.

  • Can some Auburn fans explain to me why he wouldn’t at least be a decent hire? He was the OC that won you a NC and at the very least had a hand in developing a Heisman trophy winner/ #1 pick. What big name hire are you guy’s expecting to get? David Shaw, Chris Petersen, Mike Gundy, Jimbo, and Gary Patterson are probably not leaving. Strong might be available (L’ville is going to be decent again next year he could hold out for a better job) and would be a good hire but you’re probably going to have to compete with UTk, and Arky for him. Do you guys want James Franklin?

    Idk, I’m not an AU fan obviously but I think he would be decent hire for that program considering who else is probably available/interested.
