Will Bama start slow v Michigan

No flame but Isn't a little premature to say that Yeldon is better then LACY at this point? Can we at least wait and see T.J tote the rock a few times in a big game atmosphere before we make that decision. Having said that i think T.J will win a Heisman before he leaves Alabama.

I have no problem saying Yeldon is better than Lacy. The same way I had/have no problem saying Trent was/is better than Mark.

TJ Yeldon is better than Lacey so I would see no problem with life without him.

Wrong....Lacy may not be 100% but he is a freak. Both TR and MI said as much. He will, barring major injury, make many take notice. EL will be a household name this yr. RTR

I could be wrong, but i thought Lacy tore his ACL.

lol if i'm right and you think he'll be a household name after sitting on the couch all year.

I'll give you that Michigan has holes at D-Line, but we have all 3 linebackers back from last year's defense, plus some excellent backups. Our back 7 is fine, it's the front 4 that are the cause of concern.

Holes in your DL spells trouble given Alabama has what will likely be the best OL in the country and a stable of RB's like Lacy, Yeldon, Fowler, Hart. Bama is going to pound Michigan for 4 quarters. Eventually, Michigan will wilt and Bama will run wild. This will also open up the play action for AJ which is how we strive in the passing game.

On the other side, our front 7 is our strength and our LB's are fast enough to keep Denard hemmed in the pocket which is obviously the game plan. We'll have a couple of new starters at DB but we return two other guys with 2 years starting experience. I also don't exactly fear Michigan's passing game.

I think this is a horrible matchup for Michigan. Slow start or not, Bama will wear Michigan down and win comfortably.

Has anyone considered Saban used to get beat up by Blue and might have an ax to grind?

    seriously?

I must have just skimmed through that thread on tbb about him....Well good. Now it's for sure 42-0 after 1, especially if Lacy is at least going at 25%

    You should fear Saban.

Also what he did at MSU and Miami is extremely relevant in this conversation...good job man.

Look I like Bama always have. That being said I like most Michigan fans dont fear Saban. That non fear stems from his days at MSU. Also it is completely relevant because I was responding to the comment that Saban is always ready for the big games which his track record shows otherwise. Lastly I like and respect Bama, and also respect Saban but I dont fear him. He is a good coach, great recruiter, and an even better talent evaluator. I wish you all the best of luck even the ones who down voted me it was not my intention to flame or troll.

Cool story. How many big games did Saban show up for against Michigan when he coached MSU? shrug You can talk Bama all you want and you have the right to, but Michigan and thier fans do not fear Saban. Also he didnt show up in South Beach just ask the Dolphins fans.

I just call it how I see it. Maybe, just maybe, UM has a tough enough OL to make a difference, but I seriously doubt that they do. Also, maybe Bama's running game is not up for the challenge, and UM's secondary stands tall with a few big game changing turnovers, but I am not very confident that will happen. The real key for UM is to keep Bama's jumbo defense on the field for as long as possible. Bama's success is based off of their defenses ability to get off of the field fast. Their defense is big and fast, but their size does not allow them to do it for 65+ plays a game. Last year none of their opponents were able to accomplish that task before the game was out of reach. I think it will be a lot of the same this year. Bama's defense makes it hard for other teams to get more than 40-50 meaningful plays.

    2011 Total Offense: Bama 31st (430 ypg), UM 42nd (407 ypg), PSU 95th (342 ypg)

    2011 Scoring Offense: Bama 20th (34.9 ppg), UM 26th (33.3 ppg), PSU 110th (19.3 ppg)

8 home games for UM kinda skewing those stats

PSU had 7 home games 8 if you count Temple which you should. Their away games were Temple not really, Indiana, Northwestern, Wisky, and osu. I only count two difficult road games. So I would say that that schedule kinda skews the stats as well. Cant we always use different stats to get our point across?

  • To answer the question, yes I think we'll start a little slow. I think we'll keep it simple and pound the ball on the ground. If its successful then we'll stick it to and it will probably be a boring victory (as boring as a victory of UM could be).

If the game plan for Bama is all about Bama's offense controling the ball and not about Bama's defense dominating UM's offense and D. Robinson, Bama will lose. Saban's teams sufficate their opponent's offense, which takes the fight out of their opponent's defense, and the game becomes a slow painful defeat for their foes.

Considering that controlling the ball is offensive and dominating a defense is... Defense, then can't you do both? Or should we just play great D and say "Eh, as long as we dominate on D the offense really doesn't matter".

What I'm trying to say is... Your post makes no sense.

We don't have to gameplan for that, that is just who we are. The only game in the last 4 years that comes to mind where we didn't do that is Utah '08.

Defense is a no brainer for Bama; I can see that, but it better be Bama's focus. This is just how I see it. Nonetheless, I think Bama's defense dominates, and Bama wins by 2-3 TD's.

  • I like Michigan and it is cool that they do not fear Saban but that does not change the fact that he is going to tear you a new one come Saturday. I got Bama by 24.
