Will Chizik win another SEC title at AU?

  • I say he wins at least one more, because of BVG and the talent level we are bringing in on the OL and the defensive side of the ball.

  • If Cam Newton is reincarnated as some 18 year old HS player then i could see it happening otherwise no. Yall will have solid teams but no championship teams.

  • I think its a good possibility but y'all have to get a Qb and IMO you don't have one their right now or committed to you.

  • He will be gone in 3 years after 3 consecutive 7-5 seasons.

  • So the consensus seems to be that five Cam Newtons on D, an elite DC and the SEC's best OL recruiting the past 3 years will equate to the 2011 season year after year.

  • Depends on if he beats Alabama in the next two years. I'd say 2013/2014 is the best shot, but if he is 1-4 after 2013 against Alabama how much longer does he really have? If he gets to 2014, then maybe.

  • I think bama and LSU will drop a little next season though I think bama will be a little stronger, so it might be their chance to take it since they are on the rise. But Auburn will need a better QB than what they have had to win anything. Even though Auburn was great in 2010, you guys squeaked through a lot of games and honestly if you did not have Cam Newton you wouldn't have won a title, but you did have him and you did win so that point is moot. But Chizik still has to prove to me that he can win without a Cam Newton caliber player. LSU and Bama have proven it, so when Chizik does it again I will be a believer.

Miles's best season is a 2-loss title. If anything, he's proved that he needs a Cam Newton at QB to avoid that embarrassment that was the title game this year.

  • i don't know about that, but i do know his fav group is abba. now that's is funny

  • I hate to tell you -lsu_blake1988- but LSU will not drop at all next year. They will be alot better on Off with Mett as QB. The D will be the same, total domination. Alabama will not be as good as they were last year. The reason why is you cant lose Upshaw, Hightower, Barron, Kirkspatrick, Maze and Richardson in one season and expect to be better. If anyone thinks they have better players sitting in the wings then they are kidding themselves.

As for Chizik, he has some talent at AU but your right -CrimsonTemplar- with out a Cam Newton freak of nature he will not win at all. He is an average at best SEC coach that is a damn good recruiter. But that will only get you so far when you have guys like Saban and Miles in your side of the Conf. Those 2 teams will continue to be among the best in the SEC and in the nation for years to come. Learn to love it, Learn live with it, Diamonds are forever and So is RIC FLAIR!!!!!!

  • In my opinion Miles best season was last year, bama was just better that night in new orleans. By the way, you said SEC Titles not national Titles. We have won three under Les Miles, and we have went 5-2 against Auburn under him, 2-1 against Chizik, so I would say that we can be pretty successful without a Cam Newton. What has Auburn done under him without Newton and even when you had him you barely won. You are 0-2 vs Alabama, LSU, Georgia, and Arkansas without Newton under Chizik. How many SEC titles has Auburn won in the last decade. I'm just stating the facts dude. I tried to give you credit because I believe the guy can recruit well and you have a lot of good guys coming in, but if you are gonna blast me for stating the facts then I'm gonna give you a wake up call. I remember when we were told Les could only win with Saban's guys, but we have debunked that theory especially with last year. So Chizik needs to debunk the theory that he can win without Demi-god Newton, and then i will be impressed. If he does, then I will eat crow, but until that day, enjoy your unicorn steak.

  • well it might depend on if he signs a long term deal . 52 years and counting if history repeats itself at P.Marsha's little villiage.
    tick...tick...tick...

i for one am focused more in the now & in the now it looks like :
    1. Bama / LSU winner, 3.Arkansas, 5. A&M / Aub loser in the SEC West

Could only tell you the seasons at Alabama and its 2008 and 2009.

Still don't see how that matters since even in his 3-loss season it took the greatest college football player of the last thirty years to come back and only win by one point to not making it 0-3 for Chiz against UA.

Since the SEC Title usually means a national title (unless like last year but it was still an SEC team) it is one in the same thing.

I know that Chizik is 16-10 without Cam Newton. I do believe that Auburn will be a real threat in the near future because they have been recruiting their ass off and especially on the linemen. I think that Van Gorder is an NFL guy and he will jump at the first job offer to go back to the NFL. But Chizik will go and find another talented coach. Tubberville wasn't a great coach, but he was an outstanding evaluator of coaching talent. He always surrounded himself with great coaching talent. But the bottom line is that I don't think he can consistently out talent or out coach Saban & Miles, so 3rd in the west is probably going to be their average place in the west. Talent alone doesn't equate to titles....just ask UGA fans.

  • 2012 - Not going to happen consensus seems be, even from PM, that 9-3 is the ceiling.

2013 - A manageable SEC schedule (road games = Arkansas, LSU, Georgia & Texas A&M; home = Ole Miss, Miss. St., Vandy & Alabama), and mix in 4 nobodies OOC. Even if they go 1-2 v. UGA, LSU & Bama then they go 10-2.

    2014 - ???
