Will Chizik win another SEC title at AU?

  • HowardRoarkAU said...

Lol @ people thinking we'll continue to suck on defense when we replace Holland with Foster. Rude awakening ahead. And the staff is recruiting like they haven't accomplished anything yet. Gonna be a very dangerous program for years to come. Our OL and DL will be mauling the rest of the league very soon.

    bumpsky.

Amazing how some people fail to grasp this.

Auburn's next chance is going to be the 2013 season and then beyond that. Fortunately the people who run the athletic dept at Auburn are smarter than some of the posters ITT.

If Chizik won 9-10 games this year at Auburn, his record would be virtually identical to Saban's first four years record at LSU, not Michigan State. With 9 wins this season, Chizik would equal Saban's win total for the first 4 seasons at LSU.

    Saban @ LSU: 2000 8-4 2001 10-3 2002 8-5 2003 13-1 2004 9-3

Overall: 48-16 (9.6 wins per season)

    Chizik @ AU: 2009 8-5 2010 14-0 2011 8-5 2012 9-4

Overall: 39-14 (9.75 wins per season)

Facts and stuff, comparing similar programs in the same division.

doubleshake...if chizik wins out he'll reach 9...'good luck'

  • Can we replace in the subject the word "title" with "game" and at the end add, "before he gets fired"?

I'll answer the new subject. No, he won't.

2012 - Not going to happen consensus seems be, even from PM, that 9-3 is the ceiling.

2013 - A manageable SEC schedule (road games = Arkansas, LSU, Georgia & Texas A&M; home = Ole Miss, Miss. St., Vandy & Alabama), and mix in 4 nobodies OOC. Even if they go 1-2 v. UGA, LSU & Bama then they go 10-2.

    2014 - ???

Wow seems like such a long time ago.

2012 - Like I said, not going to happen.

2013 - Not going to happen, based on what I've seen this year A LOT would have to improve to compete for an SEC Championship. As in most years, the SEC West Champ will likely need a 6-2, at a minimum, conference record. 2013 Auburn isn't beating 2013 Alabama or LSU.

2014 - Possible, If Chiz can hold on this could be his year as the o-line SHOULD be very good
(LT: Robinson-Jr., LG: Kozan-Jr., C: Dismukes-Sr., Sullen-Sr., Miller/Young-Jr.); they get LSU, Georgia & Texas A&M at home, but go to Tuscaloosa, and have an odd OOC at Kansas St. However, with the SEC East trending up, even if AU can get to the game, there is no guarantee they'll beat Florida, South Carolin or Georgia (possibly for a 2nd time).

Lets be fare and give the man a few years to build his roster

i'm just glad Cjiz only recruits Auburn Creed type prospects, otherwise "the other 40%"(of his 1st 4 classes)might have panned out, been allowed to enroll, graduated High School ,and/or not be in jail. headslap

I laugh at people who always say without Cam Newton. He was part of Auburn's team.

Yes, he was registered at AU for a semester….did he actually go to class? Did he have the normal college football career?

No. He was simply there as a football employee. Well paid employee.

AU has signed many talented recruits in the past couple of years. However, either they never make it to campus, are arrested, or simply never are developed as players. Chiz just doesn't have it as a head coach. We are all tired of hearing that "they are young." You simply can't be young every year….Pat Dye and others need to get another line….

I say he wins at least one more, because of BVG and the talent level we are bringing in on the OL and the defensive side of the ball.

4 wins isn't out of the realm of possibility for auburn. They could lose to arkansas & vandy again. I think 8-9 is the ceiling & 4 wins is the worse they can do. I think they settle in around 7 wins.

    get's it.

Chizik inherited a team that went 5-7, with one of the worst offenses in school history. He won a BCS title after one full recruiting class. This took Saban two full classes to do.

    here's some more gold.

it took chiznik 5 weeks to lose 4 games.
It's taken Saban 4 years to lose 4 games.

the weeks ahead are going to be very exciting.

I hope he stays for a long time... Actually Saban was the best thing to happen to AU. It was so easy for Tubbs to wax Shula he gave up recruiting and spent his time with a shotgun and duck call. Saban helped push Tubbs and AU's complacency with dominating lil bro out the window.

I think bama fans should realize no au fan is saying chiz = saban right now because if they are they are stupid but the are saying at this point in their careers they are similar as in saban at lsu (even though he had already coached at msu) but please continue to tell us how bad we are gonna suck and get beat by 50 and chiz can't keep players and every good one is a bust...I think we will be good this year but not great if the defense isn't drastically improved then I don't know what to say but all the flaming and trolling back and forth in this thread is gettin retarded, we made an au/bama thread for this, please move their or give it up because we will never agree on anything because to some extent we are all blind homers

Not who you were quoting, but yes, Auburn has a great chance in the Iron Bowl this year. You've lost your biggest offensive weapon and your best defensive players. Our entire DL return, our more talented younger players on D are a year older and they are being coached by an NFL DC with proven SEC success.

Nope. We beat a ranked West Virginia and a ranked Ole Miss (who won the Cotton Bowl). Fail again.

In 2011, that 2008 class we didn't have and the 2009 class that Chizik had a month to assemble were our juniors and seniors. Still won 8 games, defeated an 11-win SEC team on the road and won our 3rd straight bowl game.

Pretty remarkable considering our depleted roster and bowl game.

PS: Had Cam returned in 2011, we'd be talking about Chizik going for the 3-peat in 2012.
