Will Chizik win another SEC title at AU?

    I laugh at people who always say without Cam Newton. He was part of Auburn's team.

    Ok even with him you barely won under Chizik. Seems like either bad coaching or bad talent across the board except a few positions.

    Assume for a moment that Cam decided to go to MSU, Oklahoma, or Kansas St. In this imaginary world what record would Barrett Trotter have led Auburn to in 2010? Keep in mind that Cam accounted for 306 points in 2010.

  • Ok Ill give you credit with Cam, but the proof is what has Chizik done when Cam was not part of the team anymore or before he got there. Not so good is it.

    Auburn will be fine. Our coaches are fine. Just 1 year ago LSU wanted to fire Miles.

    Lol...and after 2010 bama wanted to fire saban according to many posters on other boards. That's just life in the SEC.

    This original poster's question/thread title MUST be re-evaluated after AU's season this Fall, including another beatdown at the hands of Bama. Does anybody REALLY believe that AU's offense will be THAT MUCH improved over last year, while learing a new offense? AU didnt even score an offensive TD vs Bama, at home last year. I dont see any way they do better than 7-5. Heck, unbiased ESPNU guys predict 6-6, and AU has more returning starters than ANY TEAM in the nation.

    AU got beat like a drum in multiple games last year, 24+ point losses. LONG way to go for AU.

  • Do people really think that coaches win without talent these days?

    So what Auburn had Cam? Saban had a Heisman winner, Trent Richardson, Hightower, Julio etc. Meyer had Tebow and multiple draft picks. Pete Carrol? Same thing. Bowden, Tressel, Miles, all had supreme talent on the defensive side of the ball, lol.

    Yep. AU had their 'cycle' in 2010, thanks to Cam being set on attending MSU, then Cecil calling Cam (when Cam was visiting his brother in Jacksonville) and telling Cam, "Its Auburn". This is how Cam told it to S.I., anyway. Hope AU enjoyed that 1 year 'cycle'. Last year began a new 'cycle' of sorts for AU, 7-5 seasons.

    I agree. Those were Lsu blakes words. Saban will never be fired but I do think he retires within 4 years as Bama's most popular coach.

    I dont KNOW if it happened, but it IS what CAM said to S.I. in his interview with them, when he was @ Auburn. I found it for you. Keep in mind that Cecil DID shop Cam to MSU...

    Last December the choice of which college to attend came down to two schools—Auburn and Mississippi State. Newton preferred Starkville because of his close relationship with Bulldogs coach Dan Mullen, who had been Newton's offensive coordinator at Florida. But Cecil thought his son should choose Auburn, which had an experienced offensive line (four starters were returning) and was only a two-hour drive from Atlanta. Newton let his father make the final decision, and a few days before Christmas, while sitting at the dinner table in his brother's house in Jacksonville, Cecil Sr. uttered two words that would radically alter the college football landscape: "It's Auburn."
