Will the Browns draft Tannehill?

when was the last time a team won a super bowl with a QB as talented as Flynn?

I will do the research for you

Since 1990, only 3 teams have won a super bowl with a QB as bad as Flynn's ceiling

1990 NY Giants- Phil Simms was injured and Jeff Hostetler led them to the super bowl. This team won the championship on the back of Lawrence Taylor and that Defense

2001 Baltimore Ravens- Trent Dilfer sucks but they were led by a top 5 defense of all time. Ray Lewis won that super bowl solely on defense

2002 Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Brad Johnson won a super bowl. Warren Sapp, Derrick Brooks, Simeon Rice, John Lynch and Ronde Barber led another top 5 defense of all time to that super bowl.

The path to a super bowl is clear. You either have a top 5 defense of all time or you have an elite QB.

Basically, you are saying the redskins should lock themselves in as a 6-10 to 9-7 team that wont even reach the second round of the playoffs instead of giving themselves a shot to get a guy who could lead them to a super bowl.

Whoever signs matt flynn is assuring themselves of 5-7 years of mediocrity.

Also, the savings they get from paying RG3 5 million instead of flynn 13 million (fins will probably pay him 12 and the skins would have to beat that to get him away from his old OC) can be spent to get vincent jackson.

RG3 + Vincent Jackson > Matt Flynn and Justin Blackmon + 2 1st rounders on defense over the next 2 years and its not even close.

You have a crystal ball predicting Flynn's ceiling?

Funny how Griffin who hasn't played a single snap is better then a guy who threw 6 TD's in a NFL game.

    Your logic is superior.

I presume you are a Skins fan.

Don't worry about Super Bowls. You aren't winning a damn thing with Snyder as your owner.

EDIT: And your last statement is so f'n stupid it's not funny.

You don't have VJ and he wants to stay in San Diego, not to mention other suitors who will be on him. Plus considering how shitty the Skins are bound to be, those picks are going to be top 10. Can't argue with homer. Skins suck bro.

I am a ravens fan I have no reason to like this deal. I hate the skins and I would love to watch them fail.

If you think flynn is the next tom brady then good for you.

All things aside, if you could have Griffin or flynn on your team next year who would you take? Not including the 10 million a year less griffin makes and the picks given up to get griffin. Who do you choose.

Whoever you pick, thats who you go after. Football has changed. It is higher scoring now and the QB is more important than ever. Flacco and Big Ben are probably the lowest skill level capable of winning a Super Bowl, and they have insanely talented defenses and ben hasnt won in 5 years and flacco hasnt even been to one.

Redskins only shot is to take griffin and hope hes a homerun player. If he isnt, then you suck so badly you can take a QB with your 2015 pick. If you take flynn, you turn into the Jags. You will always be good enough to never get the top 5 pick needed to get a real franchise QB, and never good enough to do anything.

I have no idea who I would take. I am not nearly as high on Griffin as many.

He played in the Big 12 which has terrible defenses.

    Personally I wouldn't touch Griffin top 5.

Flynn is meh, but he's more of a sure thing over Griffin.

Idk how you can hold the caliber of the Big 12 defenses against RG3. If that was the case then people would have to downgrade Luck as well considering the Defensive talent that he faced.

then I understand your concerns with the trade.

I view Flynn as Cassell and Kolb.

I think hes capable of going 9-7 on a good team. I think he could win a super bowl with an all time great defense.

I think griffin is the real deal. His potential is probably higher than Cam because he is a better passer coming out. I think Griffin is the second best QB to come out in the last 5 drafts behind Luck. Even if you put Cam ahead of him (its close in my opinion and I am talking Cam coming out not cam who proved it in the NFL) hes still a top 3 QB in 5 drafts.

Flynn is a career backup who had a career game against a horrific secondary, and two average games in 2010.

They should. Colt Mccoy is going nowhere. Tannehill will lead the team to the playoffs.

LOL what a tard! Tannehill would not beat out McCoy, McCoy is 10 times the Qb Tannehill is. Tannehill his more arm strength and that is the ONLY thing he has over McCoy. McCoy is more mobile, accurate, makes better desicions and is just overall a better football player.

Having said that I fully expect that organization to trade down and draft Tanny, not upgrade their offensive weapons with first and second round talent and then when McCoy does retain his job, he is stuck with sh*t talent around him that is always injured.

  • I have been a Green Bay fan my whole life, and I can say that Matt Flynn is going to be a good QB in the league. IMHO.

Sure he is 1-1 as a starter with the loss coming against a tough New England defense, that he went 24 - 37, for 251 yards and 3 tds 1 int, and a rating of 100.2. We all saw what he did against Detroit setting 2 QB records for Green Bay in his 2nd start.

I am not saying he is going to be good because of these two games alone, but I know the guy hits the film room hard and is a student of the game. Now does that mean he should be overpaid?? That depends on what you consider overpaid.

Back to the OP, I feel the Browns will stay away from QB and go Blackmon, or Richardson because Hillis is all but out of Cleveland.

  • There are a lot of mock drafts that show Tannehill in the top 10, and I just don't get it. I haven't seen anything from him to warrant taking him that high. Some of you have mentioned that he has very high potential, well if I'm drafting top 10(or first round for that matter), you better be ready to contribute right away and not be a project player.

I think it has to do with the fact that this is a QB driven league, and coaches and FO’s don’t have time to wait till the next draft or the year after because by then they could be fired by then. I wouldn’t mind Tanehill in the late first early second but top 10 is way too high. I don’t think Cleveland is going to pull the trigger for him though. I think he will fall to Seattle.

NE Defense and tough are not words that have been used in the same sentence since about 2005

Favre and Rodgers may have never been in a 44-38 game or whatever that ridiculous game ended up being. Stafford and GBs defense kept flynn throwing and probably made flynn 4-5 million/yr by performing they way they did in that game

manning already told the redskins absolutely not.

The options are griffin, tannehill, overpay big time for flynn, rex grossman, or beck.

You would seriously not take griffin?

They gave up 2 additional first rounders. Take their last 2 first round picks Kerrigan and trent williams as an example. One of them is a stud and ones a bust. Would you rather tannehill, a stud defender, and 2 average starters or RG3?

If the skins utilize any of the other options, they will be drafting a QB again by 2015. This at least gives them a shot to win a super bowl 3 or 4 years down the road

If those are your options, your management sucks camel dick....which was the point of my post.

Way to go Skins...You gave up any future for the hope that RGIII is awesome.

I understand your thinking on Flynn. I guess my thing is with him is that I know Green Bay like the back of my hand and honestly think whoever gets him is going to make out great.

Green Bay went through this with Favre and Rodgers, saying Rodgers will never be able to get out of his shadow. How long is he going to last as a starter, he will be average at best ect. ect.

We all know how that ended up. Will that happen with Flynn? Who knows but I would rather spend 4 to 5 million a year and take my chances. Not to take anything away from RG3.

yeah they still want to get something long term but what I'm hearing is that they will wait till things die down in this off season. I think right now they are trying to get their ducks in a row so they can woo VJax.

we need him worse. I want him and then Floyd in the first round. Should take care of our WR corps for a few years. Wouldn't mind take a chance on Childs later in the draft either. After that all we need is a couple good OL, a DE, some LB's to replace our aging ones, some young corners and a couple safteys that are worth anything. God it sucks being a bears fan.

Yeah I doubt we do anything offense wise, except maybe tailback. Grant is testing the market so who knows where that goes, not really satisfied with him anyways.

We need to improve our defense bad! Hopefully we can do that with the FAs out there. I would love to see Mario Wiliiams come but once again I might be fishing on that one. Woodson was our last big free agent signing in a long time.
