A college football fan with a membership to a fansite with 5000 posts and you wont tune into the national championship game? Liar

Every one of these people are lying. Of course they'll be watching. It's the freaking national championship game and they are college football fans. Regardless of what they say right now.

I just don't have interest in watching that game again and I'm not the only one who feels that way

say what you will but it's not a game I'll watch...congrats on your rematch but not something I care to see again

Not saying you're a liar, but that does seem very odd.

In fairness, there will probably be a lot of other fun stuff going on that night. He could read a book, watch "Dancing With the Stars" or "Two Broke Girls" or even watch some NBA hoops. Well, strike that last one.

  • Are you so bamacentric that you think everyone in the nation is dying to see you play?

    I love college football. That's probably why I won't watch a rematch.

Yeah that's the thing... there will be nothing else on... it is the national championship of college football. I don't care about Oregon and USC and their lack of defense, but I'd watch that game again. People may not care about Alabama and LSU and our lack of offense (against each other, no one else) but I think when push comes to shove they will tune in.

I don't think the nation is dying to see us play. I just think CFB fans watch the national title game.
And what does your love of college football have to do with you NOT watching a rematch?

  • I will watch as I am college football fanatic.

However, even if Alabama wins, I will see LSU as the National Champion. They won in Alabama and the BCS game will be neutral site.

Of course, this is only if LSU makes it undefeated which I believe they will.

No. I've just got a brain and know that college football fans are going to watch the one game of the season where a national champion is crowned.

it just doesn't entice me to want to watch it...i'll prob be at a bar where there are a couple small TVs going and I'll catch a few plays but I'll just be getting drunk and not caring about it with other friends who will feel the same.

I'll catch a few plays but that is really it

I understand how that would seem odd but I couldn't watch the entire first game I turned it away to watch others because it wasn't interesting to watch. I love college football and maybe this is the year we break the BCS mold with 2 teams in the same division of a conference playing for the MNC.

Not sure I buy that argument. If Alabama wins in New Orleans, it isn't a road win because many Alabama fans will be there, but I'd say its 75% of a road win. LSU will be playing 45 minutes from their own beds. Alabama will be playing 5 hours away from theirs. If Alabama won in the exact same way (by a field goal in OT), then I'd say you could give a slight edge to LSU based on the fact that it was still TECHNICALLY a neutral site game. But if Alabama wins by a touchdown or more, I don't see how you don't give the nod to Alabama at that point.

Well in 2008 if Alabama and Florida had both lost an additional game, Texas and Oklahoma would have been the two best teams in the country, and Tech could've been third. Almost the exact same scenario. I would definately have tuned in for a rematch of the OU Texas game. Who cares if they're in the same division and had already played? They would've been the TWO BEST TEAMS. Which is what is supposed to matter.

Who knew America hated defense? I'd take a great defense over a great offense any day. LSU and Alabama both average over 35 points per game this year. The only reason we saw 9-6 was because both D's are THAT GOOD.

I just hope after that comment you never give a Big Ten team any lip about how the SEC has a TECHNICALLY home field advantage in their bowl games.

SEC is 18-16 versus the Big Ten in bowl games in the BCS era heads up and any time any Big Ten fan mentions the games are TECHNICALLY played in SEC territory they are laughed off a message board.

Why should this be any different?

Well I've never disputed that there is a slight advantage for southern teams. However, there is a big difference when comparing these two situations. New Orleans is literally 45 minutes from Baton Rouge and is a huge LSU town. Alabama playing a Big 10 team in New Orleans or Orlando is not nearly the same as LSU playing one in N.O. or Florida playing one in Orlando. I will definitely give you the point about same general geographic region, but I was specifically referring to being within one hour of your campus. I do think that is a meaningful difference. Again, I am admitting southern teams have an advantage.

We'll put it in a Northern context. Playing Michigan in Detroit would be a much greater advantage for Michigan than playing Michigan in New York. Still the same geographic region and still and advantage, but not nearly the same level.

We don't know if Alabama is the second best team, but we already know they aren't the best team.

Your 2008 example doesn't make sense because there where a bunch of other one loss teams that would have played the Big 12 champ.

I will give you props for admitting it.
However, just like your game is in Lousiana, so are many of the Big Ten tie ins with their SEC bowl games.

Big Ten team versus an SEC team in the same state.

    Happens quite a bit.

Again, I will give a plus 1 to you.

I swear I saw that before I quoted. I don't know why it didn't show up.
I disagree with Florida playing in Orlando being the same as Michigan playing in New York though.

Ok I didn't want to explain all the other teams that would have played. I'm just saying assume an identical situation - whatever would have needed to happen to produce that result. I'd have been fine with it and excited to watch.

We do know that Alabama is at least in the conversation for best team. We weren't beaten soundly by any stretch. You are correct, we lost and I'm not going to be the fan that says we won just not on the scoreboard. However, you can't exactly definitively say that Alabama couldn't be the best team. When you look at all the other one loss teams, their losses are far worse than ours. You just can't give the spot to anyone else. We lost to the best team in the country by a field goal in overtime in a hard fought close game. The other candidates either lost to awful schools who were huge underdogs, or to teams with at least two losses.

Ok cool, well plus one to you too. I would say Bama in N.O. is similar to Michigan in NY. The Florida one is same state so it is a bad example. Regardless, there is a southern advantage. And the point isn't really whether it's a road game or not, just that if Alabama won by a TD I think you could justify a #1 ranking.
