  • I enjoyed the game of the century part one and I'll enjoy part two as well.

Implementing a playoff system is the only way to end these debates. Say the top 8 teams. Then let the other 6-win teams play in the minor bowls.

Ok cool, well plus one to you too. I would say Bama in N.O. is similar to Michigan in NY. The Florida one is same state so it is a bad example. Regardless, there is a southern advantage. And the point isn't really whether it's a road game or not, just that if Alabama won by a TD I think you could justify a #1 ranking.

I see what you are saying. It would take a 10+ win for me to see it though.
I wish Michigan got the shot at the rematch in 2006 but we all saw how that turned out.
We did kick the crap out of Florida in Florida the year Tebow won the Heisman though while fumbling twice within the 5 yard line. Should have won by 25+.

How far we fell when Rich Rod took over [facepalm] ... however, it is looking good for us with Mattison as DC coming from the Ravens. Urban Meyer even said he was the best recruiter in the nation and it is reflected in the 2012 class. Hopefully we can give you a good game in Texas next year.

Who knew America hated defense? I'd take a great defense over a great offense any day. LSU and Alabama both average over 35 points per game this year. The only reason we saw 9-6 was because both D's are THAT GOOD.

not taking anything away from your defense, both are stellar, but Bama shot theirselves in the foot in that game, and to be honest they choked offensively...............Bama should have won that game by at least 10, but niether Bama or LSU have an average offense outside of the run game............most of the time they don't have to because their defenses are that good......................but I do have to give both Bama and LSU the nod for the title game because they are the best two teams.............period and I am a UGA fan................come on people if you can't score you can't win............a great defense is the KEY hats off to both BAMA and LSU, so I agree the defenses are that good, but it should have never went to OT, and before people starts bashing I realize our (UGA) offense isn't that great either............just saying BAMA should have won

I'll be there for sure with alot of my friends. I hope we get a W but we will be a shadow of this year's team. Y'all will be improved. I don't like that combination from an Alabama perspective.

I agree with that but as a Bama fan I can't say it on this board without getting killed. We definitely should have won and most people agree. However, we did shoot ourselves in the foot and lost. I only hope that we can avenge that loss in a convincing enough manner that people across the nation will view us as the true #1 team.

Ok I didn't want to explain all the other teams that would have played. I'm just saying assume an identical situation - whatever would have needed to happen to produce that result. I'd have been fine with it and excited to watch.

We do know that Alabama is at least in the conversation for best team. We weren't beaten soundly by any stretch. You are correct, we lost and I'm not going to be the fan that says we won just not on the scoreboard. However, you can't exactly definitively say that Alabama couldn't be the best team. When you look at all the other one loss teams, their losses are far worse than ours. You just can't give the spot to anyone else. We lost to the best team in the country by a field goal in overtime in a hard fought close game. The other candidates either lost to awful schools who were huge underdogs, or to teams with at least two losses.

Alabama might be the second best team, but do you see why it's unfair to take them over a conference champion that has the same record? We are assuming that they are better than other teams. I would not expect Oklahoma State or anyone to beat LSU but they have to be given the same opportunity that Alabama was already given if they have the same record and a conference championship. The regular season is supposed to eliminate teams from national title contention. If you can't win your division, you should be done.

I also think a lot of people are underestimating the SOS of a few of these one loss teams.

  • Why would I want to watch an inferior 1 or even 2 loss team play for and get slaughtered in the MNC game when I could watch the 2 obvious and far and away best teams play for the MNC. It's not their fault they both in the same conference and same division and have already played a great OT game.

LMFAO, told you it would be a Bama-LSU rematch a few weeks ago.
Eveybody else is too busy getting beat.

I agree with the choke from Bama's offense but you should state that it wasn't any player that choked, it was Bama's horrible O-coordinator

I watch SEC football all the time, and on that one play with the tightend, not taking anything away from Reid, but there is no way a 190lb safety should take the ball away from a 250lb tightend, just a freakishly good play from an awesome safety................but the part that bothers me is the fact I have saw that same play about six time and the slot reciever ran a curl route, why if you thought the tightend might get by the linbacker which he did would you run a crossing route, if they hadn't run the crossing route, Reid would have never been anywhere near the play and it would have been either a TD of a 1st and goal a Ind don't see anybody keeping TR or EL out of the endzone with 4 trys.....just being real, so in that sense it was the 0-coordinator, but goodness just one of those missed feild goals..............regardless what anyone else says I thought it was a great game, both defenses balling out

I will watch as I am college football fanatic.

However, even if Alabama wins, I will see LSU as the National Champion. They won in Alabama and the BCS game will be neutral site.

Of course, this is only if LSU makes it undefeated which I believe they will.

Doesn't matter. The AP, BCS, coaches and everyone who matters will recognize it.

Once again you're assuming that LSU and Bama are the two best teams based on BCS ratings which are really a dog & pony show anyway. Until there's a playoff it's all BcS anyway.

As far as the MNC game everyone including Vegas assumed Oregon was 14 pts better than USC and how did that turn out. It was obvious Ohio St was going to get slaughtered by Miami in 2002(3) and Oklahoma's D was going to shut down USC in 2004(5). Predictions are impossible. Match-ups are the key to college football and no two teams match up the same so it's possible anyone can beat anyone in the top 10 on a given night.

As it's probably inevitable I'll bet that an LSU-Bama replay will be a totally different game with an explosion of offense.

    Maybe 12-10.

No, it wasn't then either. Ohio State had one loss going into the game. We're talking about teams with the same number of losses in this thread.

Hey genius, UGA had 2 losses just like LSU and was considered the better team at the time. THE ONLY reason UGA didn't play in the MNC was because they didn't win their conference, period.

That has to be a requirement to play for a national title. Can we all agree on that?

UConn finished 5th in the Big East and won the National Championship.

The St. Louis Cardinals needed an epic Braves collapse just to make the wild card and did not win their division but won the World Series.

I'm sure there are more instances like these. Now carry on your Bama hate just because your team choked to a .500 team.

Alabama had their time in the dumps for a couple years too, Michigan is on their way back. Two blue blood programs playing to start the year in 2012, should be fun. See y'all in Dallas.

Oh and FYI... Bama is losing A LOT on defense to the Draft. So we will come into that game VERY young and inexperienced
