Wisconsin refuses to play Alabama at neutral site

  • CtrlAltDel said...

They knew good and well Alabama wasn't going to accept this. All they had to do was take a look at our future schedule and determine that. We already have home and homes lined up.

They did this just to save face.

I forgot CBSSports was actually a local Madison paper...

I'm sorry that you can't properly understand the written word in the article I linked to at CBS, which stated this:

    "The Wisconsin State Journal reported"

You guys do realize that the North in September is pretty hot, right?

It doesn't really count as willing to "play north", as you identify it, when it's 80+ degrees when you do it.

80 degrees? Wow, that's like Hawaii or some tropical paradise.

Right, that is what the Wisconsin paper is spinning. It's kind of hard to put that angle on it when Saban approached them initially, though. They are giving it all they have trying to put it that way; I'll give 'em that.

I realize that you think the world revolves around Saban, but Wisconsin doesn't give a crap that Saban prefers a neutral site. They are more than willing to play Bama, Saban isn't willing to though. If he wanted to play Wisconsin then he could drop one of the baby seals and make room for the game. Saban is scared to travel to Madison.

  • who honestly believes(put your hate for all things Bama related aside) that UA was scared to play Wisconsin?

Lebron James will never be as good as Michael Jordan, thus we should get rid of his nickname, "The King".

I do. Why wouldn't they play a home and home

  • So I guess this means ESPN/Alabama will be announcing a neutral site game soon. Hopefully it's FSU pray

  • for starters outside of an early W on the slate Bama has nothing to gain from playing Wisky in a H&H.
most if not all of CNS's "neutral site" games are based w/ strong recruiting tactics in mind (Atlanta / Dallas) .

now if Ole Barry wants to play one in Ttown for say the travel minimum, im sure they could be worked into a future slot.
keep in mind, Bama currently doesnt have to barter deals to get a game.

We offer that piddling little team a chance to play someone important and they crawfish out of it and then, hours later after they think up a plan, they offer a home and home.

Saban had already forgotten about them and was lining up another neutral site game, as our home and home series schedule is already full with Michigan State.

You know what would be cool, and I know a lot of people won't like it but, Boise State. Not a home and home, no way, their stadium only holds 800 people. But to get them in a neutral site would be kind of nice, I think.

Neutral site games are dumb imo. Michigan and Alabama could be making just as much money with a home and home if they charged anywhere near Jerryworld prices and then each would have the added benefit of bringing money into their town.

its all about " recruiting " w/ a bump in SOS as an added bonus .

Maybe not scared but, they may have thought they could dictate what was going to happen and thought it was open for discussion. They may not have realized it was an accept or GTFO kind of deal.

I'm just saying to not boast like your teams are willing to play in the arctic tundra until any southern team is willing to play anywhere where the weather might dip below 60 degrees.

Nobody outside of the SEC homers. It was Wisconsin that approached Alabama. They even reported on ESPN that it was Saban who turned down the offer. It's not a surprise really. Teams from the SEC rarely play a team that could pose a legitimate threat.

we could play Boise in Mobile & it would be the largest capacity they played to all season .

I agree. I don't think either team is scared to play each other.

The OP though, he is trolling or has issues, or both.

Alabama plays someone decent every year, man

    2007- FSU
    2008- Clemson
    2009- VT
    2010- PSU
    2011- PSU
    2012- Michigan
    2013- VT
    2014- WVU
    2016- Michigan St
    2017- Michigan St
    2019- GT
    2020- GT

I'd be interested to see Wisconsin's notable OOC games.
