Wisconsin refuses to play Alabama at neutral site

Your biggest win in the last 40 years is a Michigan loss. lol

That's what you're going to come back with? Have you been watching the decline of your program over the last four years? You better hope that Hoke isn't a flash in the pan otherwise we'll be calling you guys Notre Dame Light. bunyanbunyanbunyanbunyan

Saban, with ESPN apparently organizing the effort, made an offer for a neutral site game. Bulimia deferred because he was afraid. That's pretty much how I read it.

Then his bosses told him to offer a home and home, which they knew good and well Alabama wasn't looking for or wanting, just so they wouldn't like like pussies.

Yeah, that's pretty much how it went down. You know a local Wisconsin paper isn't going to spin it bad for the home town boys.

why the hell would any major college want to play at a neutral site when they got their own damn stadium to play in damn. saban = scared to play at any major college home field

No, why not just play a home and Home. I wouldn't want NU to schedule a Neutral site game against a big opponent. It rips off the Fans, IYAM.

Maybe because Alabama plays Va. Tech in '13, WVU in 2015 then home-home 2016/2017 with MSU. We need one neutral for 2014.

And, of course, Wisconsin knew this before they ever counter-offered with a home and home. They did it just so they wouldn't look like complete wimps for being afraid to take a neutral site.

A home and home takes money out of our pocket. If we play four OoC games in a year, usually three are at home and one is a major neutral site game (Michigan, VaTech, Clemson) then ESPN brokers get big ad revenue and a big payout for each team.

With a home and home, we lose revenue because there isn't a big payday for it. It could mean one less home game with 101,000 in the stands.

Our program declined last year? That's news to me. Hope you guys enjoy playing 2nd fiddle to the Wolverines and Buckeyes in the near future. Will you guys still love Dantonio when he starts losing consistently to Michigan?

Seeing as how Wisconsin has never played in Tuscaloosa, I'll just take it you are uniformed.

The neutral site game would have likely been in a nice domed stadium like JerryWorld. But, Wisconsin was evidently scared.

Yes, because there is no such thing as internet, television, sports media in general, other coaches who have played there, stadium reputation, or anything else that would let them know how it is playing in Tuscaloosa.

I don't usually post here, but you are the dumbest person I have seen on BB in a while.

You don't see the fail in your statement, I am afraid. Wisconsin knew, without any doubt, that Alabama couldn't play them a home and home. They knew before they weakly asked, hours and hours after Alabama extended their offer, that Alabama is booked solid for home series games.

I really think they did it just so that they could get the jump on the spin machine with their local paper putting the word out that Alabama, the team that initially offered to play them, was somehow "scared" to play a home and home.

Yeah dude! You don't get it because this federally mandated "special person" CtrlAltDel had one of his imaginary friends find out that Wisconsin actually does Alabama's scheduling for them! So they of course would know EVERYTHING about Alabama's upcoming schedules until the year 2086 as well as being able to read the minds of everyone on Alabama's coaching staff! Duh!

How do you expect a kid from Mobile Alabama that has never seen snow before to go up to Wisconsin in January?

    -Nick Saban

Pretty dumb quote considering the fact that the game would have to be played in September. Do you not know when your own conference plays their OOC schedule?

The idiocy is just too much. I'm done. An Alabama guy calling someone else a hick. I spent time in ALabama, and I hope to never go back. Backward doesn't begin to describe it.

Now you know that's not true. I have family in West Virginia and Virginia. Both places are similar to Alabama.

  • Are you crazy???!!! No way Bama schedules another road game against a winning team until at least
2030. If they did, people would notice how Bama had really stepped up their schedule.

    People would say,
"Look, Bama is gonna play TWICE as many games on the road vs winning teams over the next
20 years as they did the past 2 decades. Ya really, they're gonna play 2 instead of 1.

    (1990-2009)
Alabama played 1 OOC road game vs an AQ team with a winning record over this 20 year span.

    2000-09 ------(2002) @Oklahoma 12-2

    1990-99 ------skipped this entire decade.

    ============== =================
The Roll- over Tide Schedule Cycle-

See, Bama has already matched their road SOS from the previous 20 years,
and still have about 17-18 years worth of room for nothing but cupcakes.

    2010-19 ------(2011) @Penn St 9-4

    2020-29 ------skip this entire decade???

Shoot for 2030 Wisky, Bama should be less scarrr'd by then.

We couldn't get into atlanta for recruiting until we started playing there almost every year. I imagine that the sec west will start doing better in texas when we start playing a&m there.

A neutral site in a huge recruiting area is smart business.

Great post. Thanks for strengthening my point. It's funny that Minnesota and Syracuse, although 2 of the weaker OOC teams USC has played the past 2 decades plus, would still rank as the 2nd & 3rd best road wins for Alabama over the last 22 years if Bama had played them.

For USC, they are about the 25th & 26th best road win over the same time frame.

    Alabama (Since 1990) 22 years
    ========
    Best road win -2011 @Penn St 9-4

Bama's next best road wins since 1990 (correction ONLY other AQ road wins)
    @Duke 3-9 & @NC State 3-9 which is < than playing at Syracuse 5-7 & Minnesota 3-9.

Heck, I guess when you have only 3 road wins vs AQ schools in 22 years,
and only 1 of those 3 schools had more than 3 wins,
even a road win against Ham & Egger State would have made Alabama's top 3.

Take your own advice skippy. Your team excels in the worst power conference in all of CFB. Oh wait, they don't. Got dominated by Syracuse lol.

Don't speak until you have a .500 record against the SEC.

Macdaddy isn't this the pot calling the kettle?

WVU All-Time Record Against SEC Teams before Missouri and A&M joining

    SEC East

    Georgia 1-0
    So.Car 7-4-1
    Florida 1-1
    Vandy 1-1
    Ky 8-11-1
    Tenn 0-0

Total vs. SEC East = 18-17-2

    SEC West

    Miss St 2-0
    Ole Miss 1-0
    Auburn 1-1
    LSU 0-2
    Bama 0-0
    Arkansas 0-0

Total vs. SEC West = 4-3

    Total vs. SEC = 22-20-2

I see what you did there.

Against "current" SEC teams (excluding A&M and Mizzou) overall you are 21-20. However, against the SEC, WVU is 14-18-1. Let me explain......

    Bama: 0-0
    AU: 1-1
    Ark: 0-0
    UF: 1-1
    UGA: 1-0
    UK: 7-11-1
    OM: 1-0
    MSU: 2-0
    UT: 0-0
    VU: 1-1
    USCe: 0-1

USCe was in the ACC when WVU won all 7 of their games, actually the record was 7-3.

WVU was also 0-1 against GT (1954 Sugar Bowl) in which they got mudholed 42-19.
